Chapter 65: Under the table

"A dinner?" 

Damian was spreading some peanut butter and strawberry jam on two slices of toast when Loraine asked him to join her for dinner with her mother. He has never met any of her family members. Well, before he doesn't have the chance as Loraine was standing firm on her decision to turn her back from her family's wealth. 

"Why all of a sudden?" He asked in return then put the toast together. He took a small bite of it while waiting for Loraine's answer. 

Loraine felt stupid for asking him out but she doesn't have any other choice. Her mother wished to see her with a potential husband before letting her hand touch any of their business. Usually, she would let the money and properties be on somebody else's hold but her mother's. Heck, she was not even her biological mom. 

"I need to make sure that woman won't get anything from my dad in any way," she stated and directly stared at Damian's eyes.
