Chapter 18: Fire, Water And Now Lighting!

The group was in an elevator, riding to the next floor. They thought this dungeon was snake-themed. The snakes seemed to have a type of poison that affects the bloodstream and causes them to freeze up and experience pain in their blood constricting. This makes them feel like they can't breathe at all. So even just one bite of theirs could result in death. They would have to be extra careful with their enemies continuing.

"Beth, I would like to ask what made you become part of the Star Cult. You seem like a normal woman that could probably find someone attractive to protect you or become part of a group that needs your power. Instead, you joined a cult that worships me and wishes me to bring them a new world with my actions. Why join them?"

Beth looked at Ash with a smile and sadness. She appeared to be holding something back when Ash asked why she joined the Star Cult. Allie gazed at her with a cold expression but did not interrupt her moment since she looked like it pained her to answer the reason why she became a member. She was curious about the reason why Beth joined the Star Cult.

"Most people in the Star Cult are people you helped before but forget. You see when both my parents died I thought about killing myself and joining them in the afterlife. But then a boy named Ash Morningstar came along and told me to always have hope and keep going forward towards new adventures."

Ash remembered that when he was younger he met a lady that looked like Beth. She seemed hollow, sad, and thin back then. He couldn't believe she became the lady she is today. They were people he helped, and they wanted to repay him by being loyal to him and dying for him. Well, he will do what he does best and accompany them on many adventures with them and let them have fun along the way. He smiled at Beth and patted her head.

"I am glad you are in a better place in your life. I remember when you were thin and despairing. You took my advice and decided to have hope and now you are here to join us on adventures with us. Thank you for your loyalty to me and remember to keep running forward with hope even in death."

Beth smiled when she heard Ash's words. She felt the warm warmth of his hand on her head and smiled. The last time she was patted on the head like this was when her father greeted her every time she came home. All those sweet memories were remembered because of this god she serves and loves with undying loyalty. Allie smiled when she heard why Beth had joined the cult.

The Star Cult was just like her in a way. They wanted to show the world how warm and unique he was. All these people he helped and gave hope to just by being himself. They are willing to pay this back with their lives, and in return, they just want to be on the same adventures as Ash. Well, this puts her more at ease with the cult if this is the reason they follow him.

The elevator finally arrived on the second floor. They could have just proceeded to the third floor. However, they wanted to clear the second floor to get a better idea of the dungeon. They also wanted to know what they would encounter on the third floor. The group continued down a hallway where the elevator stopped. The hallway had the same layout as downstairs, with rooms to hold patients and some hospital equipment in the hallway.

Some of the equipment was scorched or wet with water, which was strange since this did not happen on the previous floor. Was this caused by a magic user trying to fight back? They continued to inspect the dead bodies on this floor and they seemed burned to death from the inside out. Some of the bodies were filled with water and died drowning.

"Okay, this is strange. Why are people burned and drowning in water? This does not look like a magic user attack at all. I think we are dealing with an elemental monster. Which could be a snake that has water and fire magic that when the venom is in the body infects the victim and causes them to be burned from the inside out or drowned from water filling their bodies."

"Snakebite marks," Ash commented as the ladies inspected the body further. His theory had been correct, and now they had to deal with an elemental enemy. They could not afford to be bitten in this fight, so they had to be careful. They continued down the hall, paying extra attention to their surroundings. They heard a hissing sound ahead of them as they walked down the hall.

"Ladies, make sure you don't get bitten no matter what. Also, Beth don't try to sacrifice yourself for me if you see me about to get attacked since I can just head away if it gets close. Now if you see the water snake look for it first since we don't want to get bitten by that at all."

The ladies nodded at the instructions and continued forward and saw two snakes. One was bright red with fire wisps around it as it slithered toward them. The other was bright blue that seemed to have water vapour around it. This was because it was trying to be stealthy to sneak around them and bite them when they least expected it. Ash kept an eye on the blue snake while Allie and Beth dealt with the fire snake easily.

Allie surrounded the snake with snow piles. As a result, the snow melts and becomes wet. While Beth shot out sparks of electricity, which seemed especially effective due to the snake being wet. Beth finished it off by chopping the head clean off its body. While that was all happening, the blue snake came behind them to strike at their legs. A gunshot rang out, and the blue snake was killed with a shot to the head. The bullet seemed to glow red with heat.

Allie and Beth looked back at him with shock at how accurate the shot was and what he did to the bullet. He heated the bullet before shooting. That way, it could do extra damage to the monster when she shot it, and it was not just a regular bullet. He felt these monsters would shrug off regular bullets, so why not heat them with his magic?

Ash walks toward them and gives them both a head pat since they did a good job. They both smile warmly as they feel his hand on their heads. The ladies had warm smiles on their faces but snapped out of them since they heard more hissing in front of them. They killed more fire and water snakes that seemed infested all around them. They kept away to avoid getting bitten.

The group continued deeper into the hallway. They heard a louder hiss than before. Then they saw an electric shock shot at Beth. She was sent back a few feet away. They looked at a yellow snake with sparks. It was the size of a bike and stared at them with yellow eyes. Beth got up and took out her sword for this new monster.

"We had to deal with fire, water, and now lightning! What the fuck is this dungeon? The avatar dungeon? Where is the Last Airbender when we need them? Alright, you electric worms get ready to die!"
