Chapter 19: Camping In A Dungeon And Eating A Giant Snake!
Ash took out his War Fan and rushed towards the snake. Ash and fire surrounded him as he waved his fan and sent a wave of magic at the monster. The snake hissed in agony as it felt the heat from the waves of ash and fire sent his way. The monster thrashed around in pain as it felt its scales heat up and burn away.
Allie and Beth followed Ash's lead and rushed toward the snake with weapons in hand. Beth made a move for its side with her lightning sword. However, it seemed to not affect the magic part of the attack. However, the sword left its mark and made a huge wound on its side. Allie, on the other hand, sent waves of snow after Ash's attack to slow down the monster and freeze it.
The cold affected the snake, making it want to slow down and rest for a while. Since snakes are warm-blooded creatures, they slow down and hibernate in winter. When exposed to the cold, they want to curl up and not move as much. Allie's magic is the most effective weapon in this dungeon since they deal with snakes. The snake started to feel drowsy and fell asleep, and the group aimed at the head as it fell asleep. They cut the head clean off.
"Well, that was a good fight ladies. Thanks for your help. I guess we now know that monsters can also have elemental magic which renders them much deadlier and more difficult to deal with. Also, it seems that dealing with a monster of the same element makes it more challenging to kill. Well, it's time to make snake soup!"
The snake's body stayed when they killed it off. They were sure the venom glands were out of the body before eating it. They had been in this dungeon for a few hours and decided to camp on the second floor while clearing the second floor. They looked for some hospital beds that didn't have any bodies or were damaged in any way so they can have something to sleep on.
They found two couches that looked very comfortable to sleep on in the employee lounge. There was an excellent area to set up camp and a built-in kitchen to cook food and other meals. Also, there was a vending machine that had snacks and drinks for them to have with their meal. There were also cabinets of rice and in the fridge, there was some broccoli that could go with the meal they wanted.
Allie and Beth took cash from their wallets to purchase snacks and drinks from the vending machines. Before they could put money into the vending machines Ash broke the glass to both of them and took out the snacks and drinks for them. Allie and Beth looked at the vending machine and each other and smacked themselves on the forehead for being stupid. After all, why would they pay for snacks when it is the apocalypse and they could break in?
The ladies found some seasonings in the cabinet for the meal they were preparing. Beth was going to prepare the snake meat since she has hunted before with her family and knows how to prepare it. While Allie made the rice and broccoli to go with the rest of the meal. Beth made sure to skin the snake and get the meat and the bones since the bones would add some flavour to the meat as it simmered in a pot. Meanwhile, Ash was playing with Mr Wiggles and eating snacks and candy from the machine.
"Hey Eva so what should we look for in the dungeon that could help us? We have no clue what the dungeon could give and what we could need since we already have weapons and cultivation methods for the next stage? What else could we need for us to get stronger?"
Eva in hologram form from Ash's phone gazed at him and frozen for a moment and then seemed to move her hands around many things. It looked like she was searching for something she knew previously. Beth looked at the scene with awe and confusion since she saw a glowing woman coming from his phone. She had never seen such advanced technology before in her life and was impressed.
"Master Zero in my database says that these dungeons can have useful items that hold mana that you could refine to increase your mana pool. In addition, an elemental orb similar to your element can make your magic more powerful and you become more connected to your element. Also, there are pills that could help you regenerate your mana or refine your body."
Allie and Beth also listened to the conversation while cooking and were shocked at what they heard. This information could help them so much and not that many people will know about it unless they have been to countless dungeons. They should keep this information to themselves. Ash was thinking about letting Beth return with them to the mansion while the other cult members turn the apartment into their headquarters.
"Well that's helpful to know. I also wanted to ask you why you have not yet created a body with the resources you have at your disposal. You could join us in the adventures physically and scan items for us so we know what they are. You can add them to the database or have a drone take them back to the base. You can study them and see if you can improve them or make a better version of them."
Eva seemed to smile and be pleased by the idea of constructing a body and scanning items they came into contact with. In fact, she planned to bring this up when they returned with their rewards and relaxed in the bunker for a while. She found a way to make a body and improve her mana and magic. If she had resources as well, she could make the bunker bigger and better in the long run. She was created to be an evolving artificial intelligence, and she was designed to never stop improving.
"That was what I was thinking Master Zero. I would also like to inform you that I will call you little brother from now on since I see you as my sibling ever since I was made and watching over you and little sister Allie. But yes, I am building a body as we speak. I will set up the guest rooms for our recently added member since you seem to like the added addition to your team."
Ash had a warm smile on his face and nodded his head in agreement at Beth joining the team since she seemed a useful and enjoyable person to embark on adventures with. The other Cult members seemed stiffer and lifeless. Well, maybe it is because he has not yet met them. Allie and Beth finished cooking while Eva and Ash talked about the dungeon and about the importance of having a physical body and improving the base in the future.
"Well, I guess it is time to devour this electric worm. I can't wait to eat a dragon one day. That would be a good meal. I wonder if legends are true that if you eat a dragon you become part dragon. Well, let's dig in. Thanks for the meal ladies!"
