YIREN'S POV
"Jun, why?" The words barely escape my lips, shaking with confusion and pain. Why did he do this? Daryl is dead. Yifan is going to take advantage of it, try to snatch the company right out from under us. Jun should be in New York, preparing for whatever might happen next. Instead, he's here. With me.
"I already answered that, Yiren. I was needed here more," his voice low, filled with determination.
I turn away, feeling the tears prick at the corners of my eyes. "No, you don't. You dumb man. I'm nothing in your life! You don't have to burn down your dreams for me!"
But he did. The ache in my chest grows stronger, I was sad for my project but now I'm dying hearing about him. The pain is unbearable.
I roll the window down to catch a breath, but I suffocate myself under the weight of my own emotions. I shouldn't feel like this, shouldn't let this rush of feelings take control, but I do. And it's terrifying.
