Chapter 1: Forceful Selection:
'Oh god, please let everyone show up fashionably late!' a young man named Jin pleaded internally as he rushed across a fancy hall to a nearby elevator.
"C'mon, c'mon, close already," Jin begged the elevator while spamming the button to the terrace as though his life depended on it.
It was only once the door closed that he finally relaxed, resigning himself to the fate that awaited him.
Who he wouldn't kill to have set up his reminder alarm to get ready for the party properly.
After all, this was his one shot to get hired as a personal bartender for a nouveau riche and finally make it big.
The fact said riche also promised to erase his mountain of debt if he proved his worth didn't help his nerves either.
*Ding*
However, rather than a terrace party, as the doors to the elevator opened, all Jin was presented with was white void.
Instinctively, Jin tensed up and began rapidly blinking to try to clear up his vision like a bright light had flashed him.
The void remained, though.
In one last attempt to undo whatever had happened, Jin moved his hand to press the button that closed the elevator doors, only to realize the elevator, too, had disappeared.

Following the holographic message, the void was replaced by graphic flashing images of a peninsula in ruin, flags raised sporting the Alvarez Empire's imperial crest, and Acnologia standing above the defeated bodies of 7 dragon slayers.
"Nope," Jin instinctively said as he tried to turn around and walk away to who knows where, only to be forced into place by an untraceable energy.

"Urgh, you could have at least materialized me on the floor," Jin complained after falling from the sky, slowly getting up from the floor.
Then, he reached his hand out in front of him and sensed the ethernano around it before searching deep within himself.
Before long, there was a slight magical fluctuation as ethernano filled the sudden gap that formed around Jin's hand.
"God, I love loopholes!" Jin exclaimed with a smirk as he felt his energy reserve limit increase slightly, even if it was abysmal.
