The day was quite monotonous , Naomi was thinking about her after college activities as she sat beside the window , in a deep thought of something. Her thoughts progressed from thinking about herself to wondering about her brother's strange behavior.I mean the way he acted was pretty odd , anyone would have been worried upon seeing his behavior.Anyhow , Naomi brushed off her thoughts and decided to do some extra studying for the mids that were going to happen by the end of the next month.Without realizing , hours went by and the day came to an end. Naomi decided to head home after saying her good byes to zack.
After she gets inside the house , she is greeted by a surprise. Her brother was sitting in the tv lounge. Usually he comes around late at night but that specific day he came early. She didn't think about why that was the case she was just happy that she will now spend more time with her brother.
"big brother Iam home-" screams Naomi in excitement as she enters the house. But she did realise that something was strange there. Probably the weird odor of the tv lounge. Her brother was lying on couch and there , with numerous bottles of alcohol besides him.
"big brother did you drink too much again?" asks concerned Naomi.
"oh Naomi , when did you come?" asks Chase while stuttering a little
"this is my off time , you're the one who came early , besides why are there so many bottles of alcohol just laying around?"
'oh that , I just wanted to have some few drinks" answers Chase.
"I've told you so many times that drinking is not good for you " Naomi says as she sighs.
Chase reassures her that he wasn't drinking much but Naomi , knowing her brother very well was definitely not convinced.Chase seems to have high alcohol tolerance because he was acting pretty normal and wasn't drunk yet.
"wait Naomi .... listen" Chase stops Naomi as she is going to her room.
"Is there something that seems to be bothering you?" asks Naomi hoping to get a convincing answer.
"listen to what I am about to say , carefully and calmly" says chase in a tensed tone.
Naomi , bewildered but very interested in what her brother had to say.
"Iam getting married...." blurted out chase , hesitant at first but finally made up courage and told her..
Naomi , excited but a little surprised , stares at chase for a while , then replies
"That's wonderful big brother...but all of a sudden? I mean if you had someone in mind or you had been seeing someone , why didn't you tell me?"
"It's actually a bit.....complicated...way more than that"
"I understand , well I'm really happy for you , you finally got someone in your life and I hope its for the best" says Naomi in a cheerful tone , fully supporting her brother's decision.Chase had not told her that it wasn't his decision and perhaps he was getting forced into this. In reality marriage was the last thing in his mind at the moment , but his wicked father was sort of blackmailing him , Chase could totally imagine what unmentionable motives his father had, but refrained himself from telling Naomi about it, I mean it wasn't going to make a difference anyways. What did concern Chase was the fact that this was the first time in years his father has mentioned something about Naomi.His father despised Naomi since the day she came into this world , he never spoke a word about her before , but now all of a sudden he did , which must mean that he has something in mind for Naomi.
Naomi went back to her room as she was exhausted from her day. Meanwhile Chase was still thinking of a way to get out of this situation though he knew well that no matter what he does , it'll have no use. He sits in frustration as a blanket of hopelessness and despair cover him from inside and out. He continues to drink and drink until he passes out on the couch.
Fast forward to the next week when the day of wedding has arrived . Chase was really not in the spirit for his wedding.He had been thinking about his decision alot , the more he thought , the more anger and frustration rose within him. He blamed everything on his father but deep inside he was fully aware that he was helpless in front of him.Now he had decided , he had decided that if he can't punish his father , he will punish his spouse , his wife. He was convinced that the only reason she's marrying him in the first place is because of his money , so she deserves it anyway.
"yes , this is it , she will be paying for this , it's her own fault for agreeing for this , she's just like any rag of a women out there , the moment they see money , their mouth start to drool and their eyes start to water , she will pay for this , for thinking I'm some sort of a bank account and only marrying me to use me".
Chase kept repeating these phrases as he was laughing hysterically , and enjoying every moment of it , both his pain , and the joy that was coming out of it.
