Chapter 65: Plans, plans, plans

Eve took Xia's admission as a sign that she was moving past her rational and irrational problems with Victor. It was a good thing for the cohesion of their group, but it made Eve think, and though she didn't like the resulting thought much, she still felt obliged to say it aloud.

"Hailett's problem is with Victor, first of all. If you two went to him and swore your loyalty to him, Xia, Celina, I think he might let you off the hook."

"Please, don't call me that here, Eve. I know we are alone, but you know for yourself how awful soundproofing is in that building," Celina said, giving Eve a reproachful frown. "And don't tell me about just leaving you and Victor on your own!"

"Yes, Sister, how can you say that when you didn't mention leaving Kraust yourself? Do you think that I'm going to leave you two on your own?"
