"You—" Michaela's lips trembled. "What are you— What are you planning to do?"

"Isn't it obvious?" Eve smiled. "I was planning to let him live."

"Live…" Michaela sounded dispirited. "That is still called living!? Who are you and why are you—" Before she could finish her words, Lucius stirred. It was as if her voice somehow woke him up. He stared at Michaela, and for a while, it looked like he recognized her.

"Lucius?" Michaela called out. She loathed this person for tricking her, but at the end of the day, they were considered allies. In front of an enemy, allies usually work together. "Lucius, can you hear me?" she asked.

Again, there was a flash of recognition in Lucius's eyes yet it vanished as quickly as it arrived.

"Lucius…."

"He can hear you…" Eve spoke, a smile apparent on her lips. "Although… I am doubting the fact that he could still speak. I have yet to check his tongue."
