Rome's door couldn't keep me out, the taint spread to the edges of it, the former glory of the towering columns and grandeur crusted with mold, crumbling at the base into the corridor. I waved my way past the few gods who hovered on the other side, surprised to find they weren't attempting to stand in my way, cowering to one side at my arrival.

We had, Chaos reminded me when I wondered what was up, torn the roof off the palace while Chance set fire to Rome not so long ago so perhaps their fear and concern was come by honestly and should be encouraged to continue so no opposition would show its ridiculous face ever again?

Whoops. Right. We'd done a bit of a number on the place, none of which, it turned out, had been repaired from the distant look of the crumbling city that had once been beautiful. And things weren't going to get any better, either.
