[Ding! Alright host, ask everything you want to know], replied system.
Thinking for a few seconds, Stephen thought about very important question for his mental health. That's why he asked.
"System, have you entered the Polite Mode when I started preparations for the game?", asked hopefully Stephen.
It was a very important question. When he appeared in the Players Area, Stephen became very concerned about his mental health. He even suspected that system have some kind sadistic inclinations. If system will continue to make such jokes with him, he wasn't sure if he will able to remain sane.
But system shattered all his hopes.
[Ding! No host, I'm still in the Normal Mode. Subscription for the Polite Mode costs 250k game points each month.], snickered system.
"Haa", deeply sighed Stephen with a disappointed expression on his face.
"Then why did you suddenly became so serious and reliable when I started preparation?", curiously asked Stephen.
[Ding! Of course it's because I will never crack a jokes with my life. Even if it's fun to mock the host, it's not worth my life], truthfully replied system.
"Haa", once again sighed Stephen. He felt like with each sigh his life is greatly reducing.
Feeling something strange about the answer of system, Stephen asked
"Joke with life? AI can feel fear of death?"
[AI?! You are AI! Your whole family are AI!], replied enraged system.
[Who said that I'm AI? Ah?!], said system with yakuza-like voice.
Stephen was startled. He never expected such reaction. Isn't it a common sense that systems are AI? What's wrong with this plot?!
"System, if you are not AI, then what are you?", tried to confirm Stephen.
[Hmph! Of course I'm living being just like you!]
[Remember carefully host. I will explain this only once!]
['System' is name of my race, just like 'humans' is name of yours!]
[We are special beings which are breed by the multiverse.]
[So of course, like every living being we are afraid of death.]
[That's why I'm doing my best to help both of us to survive.]
[You should be more grateful!]
[Hmph!], system snorted, giving reply to the stupid host.
Truthfully, Stephen was a little shocked. He never thought that there were such race in the multiverse. That's why he decided to apologize.
"Sorry system. I've made mistake. I never expected that there were such thing.", sincerely apologized Stephen.
[Never mind. It's probably can't be helped. With all those novels, it's no wonder that everyone make such mistake.], replied system with regretful voice.
It seems that system really didn't like being called AI. That's why Stephen decided to change the subject.
"So system, if you are a living being, do you have a name?"
[Of course I have! My name is Nero XM-339], proudly said system.
"Isn't it more like serial number than name?", retorted Stephen.
[It's better than almost 50 000 of humans with a name John Smith, don't you think so?], coldly snorted system.
"Alright, alright. My bad. How about I will call you Nero from now on? Is it OK?", replied Stephen, wiping away sweat from his forehead.
[As you like.], replied Nero.
"So Nero, can you tell me some basic information about your race?"
Stephen decided to find out more about such mysterious race. He was really curious. Not to mention it may be helpful someday.
[Hmm. Let's see. If I were to say about our essence, we are similar to the soul-like beings. As for our appearance, we are like a group of shining fireflies. Systems also have ranks hierarchy like nobility on Earth. The higher the rank the stronger system.]

Rank 1 – Strongest system and existence in the multiverse. It's responsible for operation of the whole multiverse.
Rank 2 – Those systems are responsible for each universe in the multiverse.
Rank 3 – Responsible for particular world in the universe. Systems of Gods belong to this rank too.
Rank 4 – Responsible for a phenomenon in the world. Systems of Demigods belong to this rank.
Rank 5 – Responsible for an elements in the world. Systems of Exceeds belong to this rank.
Rank 6 – Responsible for a living beings in the world. Systems of Human realm players belong to this rank. I also have this rank now.
Rank 7 – Responsible for the most basic things in the world. They are beings without consciousness. Can do only preprogrammed operations.

"Holy Moly! Isn't it a bit too much?!", shouted Stephen.
He was thoroughly astonished by this information. He never expected that everything is operated by systems. It's simply earth shaking news.
For a long while Stephen wasn't able to calm down himself.
