A soft knock made us both jump until we realized, it was coming from the bedroom door. I summoned the courage to finally turn the water off while Isamu went to answer and I quickly followed him.

Midori-san's gentle figure stood in the hallway. She barely glanced at me and exchanged a few quick words with Isamu in Japanese. Her hand held a small object she placed in Isamu's hand before bowing and quickly disappearing.

I hugged and rubbed the chills along my arms. "Is everything alright?"

Isamu slid the door shut before answering me. He opened the palm of his hand and I saw my amber oil vial.

"Midori found this in the garden. She was wondering if it belongs to you."

I inched closer to Isamu and took the vial in my hand. "Yes," I said. "It's mine." I looked at my amber. "I never brought it out in the garden, Isamu."

"Not even this morning? When we left for our walk?"
