Perhaps due to her constant crying and exhaustion, before she could rise to the surface and breathe some air, Atasha lost the strength in her legs. Causing her to flop deeper down the steel floor of the enormous cauldron. 

In her state of shock, fear, and panic, she harshly kicked her feet and flapped her arms. But her action only made it worse as the sudden stretch of her numb legs, a jolt of pain coursed through her bones making her gasp and cry in agony.

Atasha promptly covered her mouth to salvage a little oxygen she could muster in her system and flapped her other hand, trying to get attention for help but her feeble arms couldn't even reach the top while she sat on the flooring.

Thus, making her effort in vain as her feet already turned numb and asleep after squatting for a long time previously.
