The texts were more of an agitation than a balm.

He was only too happy to see her name pop up on his cell, much to his chagrin. He’d kept busy through the weekend, working at home, patrolling, and helping set up for Selway’s opening.

But they’d been random messages, vague little snips that did nothing but create questions. Was she really just ‘checking in’? What the hell did that even mean?

His phone buzzed in his pocket so, when he swung his axe and hit the stump, he left it there. This text wasn’t from Reyna.

It said: Negative on Butte. Found White Sulphur’s Luna in Raleigh, NC. Hitting a wall with the Alpha.

Finlay sighed. He’d set Evander on the packs Zack absorbed in hopes of understanding how, exactly, it happened.

So far, Butte was shutting them out and the pack in Raleigh was sternly guarding Enis Greer. He’d have to contact the Alpha himself. Perhaps set up a meeting. It was easier for wolves to gauge intent face-to-face.
