Finlay

The Beta made him uneasy.

As Finlay had approached, he’d hung back to watch the exchange between Reyna and Zack’s second in command. The guy was eerily intuitive. He hadn’t even been looking at her when she made to move away.

He’d put up less of a fight than anticipated when Finlay asked her to dance. Perhaps because Zack was right there. Perhaps he wasn’t willing to step on another Alpha’s toes. Either way, Finlay was glad for it.

His wolf wasn’t in the right mindset to be dealing with disobedient Betas.

The song began and Finlay led her along to the slow tune. There wasn’t much leading required. This was more of a stand-and-sway number, much to his chagrin. Perhaps he’d made a mistake.

“Thank you,” Reyna said quietly, mindful of their neighbors. “I was getting a little stir-crazy.”

“No trouble.”

Awkward.

“I figured you’d be gone by now,” she continued. “You know. ‘Getting back to your business and being on your way’.”
