Chapter 1: Refusing To Stop

"I'm onto something Henro, something that will get us out of this stone age..."

A pale-skinned man with eyes full of determination muttered as he stared at his cursor, preparing the finishing touches on his life's work.

This man is 23 years old and is by far the brightest man in his generation.

As for the stone-cold man behind him, he simply sat put, as in the stage of development his work as an assistant to Ian would not be necessary.

"So it's finally coming to an end... "

Henro reminisced about his study which was about the year 2000. Surprisingly, the developments of mankind were extremely minuscule during the past centuries.

Even during the current year, 2406, all major parts of human life remained the same. The smartphones, the architecture, and the problems.

It wouldn't be a surprise to mankind if they were going to face complete destruction on any day.

From the intense heat to the crowd of soldiers that could be heard on the streets. Life on Earth was nearing an end, and it was quite apparent.

*BOOM*

Red lights started blaring in Ian's lab, and the mysterious Orb at the center of Ian's work began to glow.

"No... Not when I'm so close to finishing!"

Ian couldn't believe the inevitable had arrived at such a critical moment in human history.

On his security cameras, he witnessed an unidentified alien storm through the bustling streets of the Jowa Empire. This alien was heading straight to Ian's lab with a cold, emotionless expression.

Ian and Henro's faces became grim, as they knew what lay in store for them was nothing pleasant.

As the alien phased through Ian's steel security doors, Ian's eyes went back to the Orb. Its shimmering light seemed like it was from the stars.

"Don't do this! Have mercy!"

*BANG*

Ian didn't look behind him, but he recognized that voice which came to a sudden stop. It was Henro's, and yet Ian clenched his teeth and tried to tune out the annihilation occurring around him.

"If you're going to take me and my friends down, I'll simply give you a taste of your own medicine!"

Ian shouted as he finished bolting up his remaining screws to initiate the Orb's process. With this, he was finally able to reach his end goal of creating technology that could push back the barriers that trapped mankind on Earth.

{Process beginning...}

A robotic voice came from the Orb, as it shined its majestic light.

Suddenly the alien stopped his movements deeper in the lab and began to sprint at his maximum speed to escape from the vicinity.

However, all movement came to an incomprehensible stop as the orb had burst into a million rainbow shards. Several of these shards began to pierce Ian, who wasn't able to react to the godly scene playing out.

"I refuse... To be stopped... This easily!"

Ian attempted to speak with all his might. Wanting to break free of this horrible scenario and witness the power of his Orb longer.

To no avail, the shimmering light swallowed the entire lab, leaving nothing but a crater.

____

Days later in a foreign mystical land, Ian began to open his eyes.

{Welcome to the afterlife, Potential Grandmaster!}
