Chapter 158: Chapter 9 In dead of night
" Ooy, Mendes. Go sleep."
Marshall yawned, hugging two women next to him with delighted. His eyes were hanging around the breasts of those women, drowned in lust that clouded his judgment with alcohol. Hence, he quickly wanted to have his way in before the crew woke up.
" Got it, captain."
Mendes replied, hiding his eyes under the brim of his hat. The look of hatred never left the face of its perpetrator. This night was the end of his suffering and today he would finally gain his freedom.

He locked the door for now, going to the crew quarters to wake John up since he was his sole partner during these years. Although he hated John for his vicious heart, he never betrayed nor abandoned him in the first place, so he decided to go with him.

The heavy smell of alcohol punched his nose, nauseating his stomach, but he was able to navigate through the crews, finding his goal. John was sleeping heavily while sweating like a hamster. The disgusting smell of sweat coupled with a shitty environment made his body smell like a ball of rotten meat.

He gently shook his body while blocking his mouth to prevent him from making noise. John woke up from constant shaking, feeling familiar with this bastard-like shaking since he was woken up like this many times.

He choked, feeling angry about his disruption. He raised his eyebrows, indicating how he serious was, but that didn't matter to Mendes. He signaled him to follow him to the board silently.
John sighed with relief, coming after him with careful movements. The beds were quite close to each other, hence waking others up was easy. Therefore, he had to be extra careful because he was fat.

He finally crawled out of the room, basking in the cool ocean wind that cooled his temperature down. The moon was hanging above them while others were sleeping soundly under the influence of alcohol.
" He is vulnerable at the moment. Our moment has come finally."
Mendes opened his mouth, revealing his plan to escape tonight. John's pupils enlarged, feeling anxious for the first time after a long time. His heart beat loudly and his blood ran up to his brain rapidly.
He was finally able to escape from this hell. He was finally able to sleep on the comfortable bed with women and eat good food.
" Then what are we waiting for? Let's end him and escape from this place."
John urged Mendes to hasten his movement. Mendes shrugged off his hands to calm him down as he gave him a flask of wine from his pocket. He took out a hard bread from his pocket, passing it to John. John didn't mind his behavior because he felt a hunger rush after sleep, so he decided to eat it.
" Listen carefully, John. Two of us had planned this for a long time. You prepare the boat while I will slit his throat. Obviously, they will suspect us first, thus I will start a fire to attract their attention and you have to kill two prisoners and mask it like us."
Mendes said coldly, waking John up from his daydream. John gulped when he heard he had to kill two prisoners, but deep inside there was no remorse about it. Most of the prisoners were either slaves or pirates from other ships.
" Alright, I will do so. So, be quick."
John said calmly, hurrying off to the area where the prisoners were held. Mendes directly went to the captain's cabin.
He placed his ears on the door to spy on him. There was no sound in the cabin, indicating they were asleep. Hence, he opened the door while erasing the sound with his mana.

He took out his dagger from his belt while creeping up to them without any noise. The sight of three covered in sweat and shame came to his eyes which made his blood boil with rage. Especially he wanted to strangle Marshall to his death, but he didn't have enough power. Mendes carefully scanned around him before getting close to him near the point. He made sure there was no obstacle in the room as he slit his throat along with those 2 women who sold their dignity to him.
