61.53% Ecdysis — I'm A Snake, So What? / Chapter 8: Entrance to Trouble!

Chapter 8: Entrance to Trouble!

I was just laying around, comfortably eating raw rodents as my hunger just depletes more than it should be. (seriously, bring me more fire rodents!) My mother hasn't been sitting still as she has been turning her head in different directions.

Oh, my Greater Sibling that left earlier is back... why is her mouth all bloody?

Anyway, I've been eating a lot of rats and I've been practicing my skills. Especially [Venom] that I was neglecting turned to level 2 and [Judgement] followed.

When [Judgement] leveled up, I was really surprised. More than levels and names, it was able to give more information than before...

——————————

Lesser Serphedia Lv. 3

HP: 40/40 MP: 40/40

——————————

I was actually surprised that it changed form! Not only that, but I've also been given HP and MP. Now I'm beginning to think that I'm in some sort of video game, yet everything is so realistic.

My HP and MP are balanced—what do I use Mana for? Is it my Acid Spits and Venom? Let's give it a try, then!

Acid Spit!

——————————

Lesser Serphedia Lv. 3

HP: 40/40 MP: 35/40

——————————

Oh, it did! Acid Spits take around 5 points of my MP.

After experimenting with stuff. I discovered that [Venom] takes away 3 points and a full-powered [Venom] and [Acid Spit] takes about 10 points. So that means, I have about 4-8 times I can attack before running out.

But not to worry! If I eat a whole rodent, it gives back half of my MP and I should suspect that it also gives my HP back.

Next is Ecdysis, I think after shedding my old skin, I get all my HP back as my previous Ecdysis removed all my wounds but in turn, made me very weak and I had to eat a lot.

I wanna eat that Fire Rodents again... drooool~

I don't want my comfort time to be ruined but suddenly my head started ringing like crazy. I sense my kind that was in the attack are all in trouble at different locations at once! I don't know what's happening but when I looked at Mother, she was angry and all snakes, including injured, were brought back to the battlefield—and I wasn't an exception.

The only ones that stayed behind were one Greater Serphebia—the one with the purple tint.

Everything was the same when we got out. We were formed in groups of two Great siblings and eight to ten lesser ones. I was with the lesser once and we didn't split up this time.

The splitting of groups earlier may have made into a great disadvantage since those Fire Rodents appeared. They were the same fragile-weak-against-poison kind of rodents but their fire made them dangerous. A little difference can be turned into a bigger threat.

Now that I think about it, how do those mutations appear? It seems that even my Greater sibling was in some kind of mutation, as one was red and the other was purple. It also didn't define it in my [Judgement] skill.

Now's not the time to think about that! We just arrived in the battlefield and it seems like there are a lot of rodents to great us.

My Great siblings hissed as the others stood beside them. They fired Acid Spit like a platoon firing a gun in unison, they didn't even stand a chance as rodents got annihilated in an instant!

——————————

Lesser Rattus Lv. 4

HP: 0/20 MP: 0/10

——————————

They are called Rattus and they seem to have the same principle as ours, taking in the lesser-to-great titles before their names.

[You have leveled up to Lv. 4!]

We were victorious in every encounter as I joined it with the simple battle plan and spit in unison. Even the Fire Rodents were no match if we act and attack earlier than them and I discovered that their reaction time is really slow.

It also happened when I almost died. It just stared at me for a couple of seconds and it gave me the time to react and spit my acids.

Then we stopped from the pursuit as we were welcomed with a stair that goes down and its where all the help is coming from. What's going on down there? My Great siblings looked at each other, then to us.

They nodded as they continued forth and we Lesser ones, followed. It was a really long staircase as it took us a minute to hurry and go down there. That's where we noticed at the entrance.

The entrance was new to us, as we just made a hole on the wall. haha. Anyway, the stairway was in a different room and the entrance to what seems to be the next floor is facing us. Like those emergency exits in buildings, the stairs have a room for their selves.

If I try to remember, the entrance to the stairway was basically the same...

Skulls of a really familiar species—Humans. There were a lot of them piling up at the entrance of what I call the 2nd Floor of the Dungeon. So it also means that there really are humans here.

Also...

They are ridiculously small! I mean, I've grown only a little bit but I am the smallest type of my species and just measuring it, we Lesser once are at the height of their waist and if we stretch all of our body, we're tall than that!

A human male is about 1.7 meters, if I stretch my body into a stick, I could measure at about 2.1 meters!

I don't know if they are small or we're just ridiculously big for a snake... and also the rats! This is not normal, nothing is normal here anymore!

I give up...

Well, I was about to give up the logic I've accumulated back on Earth when it made it worse. Instead of giving it up, I just smashed it into millions of squashed pieces when I saw something that baffled me.

A rat, triple the size of my Great Brother appeared out of nowhere.
