Chapter 8: CHAPTER EIGHT
While Sharon and Ethan were going to their table, Maria Lancaster entered with bodyguards. She looked at Ethan and smiled not sparing Sharon a glance as she went to her table. The last bodyguard that came in made Sharon's eye twinkle. She removed her hand from Ethan's hold going to meet him making Ethan frown.
"Hello, we meet again." She said as the man just looked at her.
She brought out a small box that she wrapped to give to him when Ethan stood beside her.
"What are you doing?" He asked.
"He saved my life yesterday or else I would have been raped. So I brought this to show my appreciation." She said making Ethan frown.
"How did you know he would be here?" He asked.
"I didn't. I just carry this with me in case I run into him." She said shrugging.
"You don't need to buy gifts for him. It's his job. He was just doing his job." Ethan said as she turned to him.
"What do you mean?" She asked.
"This is vector. Your personal bodyguard. I hired him to look after you but it seems he's starting to get comfortable." He said looked at vector who coughed before turning to Sharon. Should I fire him? He asked.
"No, you don't have to." She said shaking her head.
"Then let's take our seat and don't buy gifts for him again." He said looking at the box and vector who just bowed his head then at Sharon. I'll allow it this one time. He said dragging her away.
"I can't believe Sharon is married to Ethan Lancaster." Shirley gritted as Rose nodded.
"We need to fix her permanently." Marina said joining them.
"Sis, what can you do? Whenever we try to do something bad to her, she just escapes easily. She just has so many luck with her." Rose said.
"Don't worry. I'll think of something." She responded as their friends came over.
"I thought you said your sister married a pauper?" Mimi Jones asked mocking Madina.
"That's what I thought." Marina said.
"Next time get valuable information before making up stories." Lali Edmond said.
"Hey, watch it." Shirley said.
"Or what?" Lali asked
"That's enough you two." Madina said as they left.
"I really don't know why you keep those two losers as your friends." Shirley said leaving.
"Hey, I'm Irene." Irene said bringing out her hand.
"I'm Sharon." She said.
"I know." Irene said
"Oh!" She exclaimed smiling anxiously.
"This is my husband. Ryan." She introduced.
"Hi." She greeted.
"Welcome to the crew, mi 'lady." He said.
Sharon smiled looking confused.
"The crew?" she asked
"Yes. We're Ethan's best friends. So you'll be seeing more of us." Ryan explained as she looked at Ethan talking to some business partners.
"Since you're Ethan's wife, you automatically become our friend." Irene said. I hope that's ok with you. She added.
Yeah, I don't mind." Sharon said as five women came over.
"Hello, Mrs. Lancaster." They greeted.
Sharon turned to Irene who turned to Ryan. They looked at her leaning in.
"Sharon, remember when I said we could be friends?" she asked as Sharon nodded. Let's pause that. I'm sure you can handle this women yourself. Just let me know when you're done. Irene stood up with her husband leaving Sharon to the wolves.
"So much for being friends." She muttered smiling to the women as they sat down.
The party ended. Ethan turned to see Sharon feeling miserable. He had to save his wife from those pretentious women.
"Ok ladies. We have to do." He said.
The ladies giggled leaving. Irene and Ryan came over.
"How was your discussion?" She asked.
"Thanks for the heads up." Sharon said smiling. Who are those women even.
"Women who only come close to you because you're married to Ethan." Irene said.
"Trust me, you don't want to get close to them. They are so pretentious and fake." Ryan chimed in as Ethan turned to them.
"Can we leave here now?" He asked as they nodded.
They were about to leave when Marina stopped them.
"Good evening Mr. Lancaster. I believe we haven't met properly. Forgive my sister for being so forgetful for not introducing you to the family." She said smiling.
What does she want now? Sharon thought.
"I do not like to be obstructed." He said as Sharon looked away while the smile on madina's face faltered before it came back again.
"Your so funny. That's by the way, I'm Madina Wilmort and also your sister in-law." She said bringing out her hand for a handshake.
