Chapter 18: 168 hours
"...are you going to offer that?" He asked, half smiling. She looked at him, trying to figure the answer. This is not as easy as angie assured her. It was so frustrating! and life threatening.
"I will give you just a week to think about it.."
"No need, I will give my response now" She suggested as he raised his brow, with a 'no' expression.
"Fine! Give me two days and I will get back to you.." He still gave her the similar expression.
"Come on, a week is too far. 168 hours..."
"7 days" He interrupted.
"But what is the use of so many hours while I can give my response now" she hesitated, pouting her lips.
"Settle and think and not put your life in a risk kid"
"5 days then!"

"168 hours...?"

"Please.." She stressed.
"Alright kid, return the file tomorrow and resume work when both filled and signed where they requires your signature, but remember, don't come late, that's the number 1 rule" He concluded, looking at his document before typing. Vera stared at him for a while, before standing up to leave.
"Frustrated man" she muttered under her breath and left. As the door closed, he stared at the empty seat with a smile and quickly returned cold as his face darkened when he dialed a number.
"Investigate further on miss her" he said and ended the call.
"Smart move kid..."

"Vera!!" Someone shouted her name from a crowded market distance, as she turned her head to the direction of who called her. Still looking, he waved his hand from afar as vera spotted him. She struggled to pass through different people to reach there, as she was constantly hit by those who were also in a hurry. Reaching there, she smiled as she saw the person.
"Hugo..!" she called with a smile and hugged him. He hugged her back, patted her back slightly before releasing her.
"How have you been doing?" he asked in concern.
She shaked her head vigorously "Not fine" she said, as a tear dropped down from the both side of her eye.
"Come here dear" He said reassuringly, rubbing her hair with his hand. He could feel hot tears on his chest as he brought her face out and made her look at him.
"Let's go home and then you can tell me everything that happened okay?"
She nodded "Yes"

Inside the study...
"And you think someone sent her?" Diego asked, looking at the man pouring his drink in his own glass.
"Mm" Scott said, as he walked back to the sofa and sat down.
"Yes, I agree it is strange and weird at the same time but...do you realize that this could solve this huge problem on ground" he asked curiously.
"Yes..I have" He took a sip of the drink and looked at him.
"...and I am investigating everything about her" Scott said, playing with his fingers on the sofa.
"Since you are investigating, get it over with and start to plan how your engagement party will be" He said, taking a sip of his own drink.
"It is not that easy"
"What is not that easy? Getting a wife or getting a woman pregnant?" He asked with a sour face.
"A contracted wife. Just put it that way" Scott corrected.
"What is with you and women? Can't your relationship with them work out for once. I have not heard you took her out for a dinner date once, neither have I heard you even brought her home except from that lady" He said with a furrowed brow, trying to remember her name.
"She just exist and not live, ego. I have nothing to do with her" Scott replied coldly, staring at his drink on his hand.
"Oh really..?" He raised his brow in a surprise look, and took another sip of his drink.
"And what's with that name, Scott, why don't you use the name you were born with" he asked.
"This is human's world, ours is different"
