The Sunset Forest was located in the center of the Heaven Dou Empire.
Compared to the Star Dou Forest, its area was much smaller. Additionally, due to excessive hunting by humans, while there were still many soul beasts in the Sunset Forest, it was rare to see soul beasts over 10,000 years old. Most were only 1,000-year-old soul beasts.
The Emperor Team arrived at the Sunset Forest in less than a day.
The third soul ring of Zuzong was acquired here, so they were familiar with the area.
As they entered the forest, Zuzong and Yu Tianheng led the way. Shi Mo, Shi Mo's twin brother, Oslo, and Yufeng guarded the flanks, while Ye Lingling, the support system spirit master, stood in the middle. Xiao Wu and the team leader, Qin Ming, stayed at the back.
Zuzong swung his sword, casually cutting through the vines blocking their path, then looked at Yu Tianheng. "Tianheng, what kind of soul beast are you planning to hunt for your fourth soul ring?"
Yu Tianheng smiled lightly and replied, "It might be a bit tricky. It depends on our luck. Our Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Martial Soul needs to hunt dragon-type soul beasts. The best would be a soul beast with a dragon bloodline that has cultivated for over 4,000 years."
Zuzong nodded. He possessed the Blue Silver Domain, which allowed him to sense anything in the forest as long as there was Blue Silver Grass nearby. Additionally, his Blue Silver Domain had evolved to the second stage, granting him the "All-Encompassing" skill, which allowed him to assimilate and suppress others. The suppression skill could reduce the enemy's martial soul attributes by 10%, including their soul power output, which would also drop by 10%. The longer the enemy stayed within the domain, the stronger the suppression effect. This ability was one of Zuzong's hidden trump cards.
As Zuzong activated his soul power, the Blue Silver Domain expanded. Everything around him became clear in his mind.
Suddenly, Zuzong sensed something rapidly approaching from afar.
"So fast," he thought.
Just as he was about to alert the others, the approaching presence stopped. Zuzong paused for a moment, then smiled.
Sure enough, moments later, Dugu Yan appeared.
Yu Tianheng's eyes lit up. "Yan Yan, what are you doing here?"
"I've been staying here with my grandfather in the Sunset Forest for the past month," Dugu Yan replied softly. Then, she looked at Zuzong with a hint of guilt. "Zuzong, my grandfather has something he wants to talk to you about."
Zuzong's heart leaped with excitement, but he still pretended to be shocked.
Feigning fear, he said, "Yan Yan, why would Poison Douluo want to talk to me?"
"My grandfather… well, he might…" Dugu Yan hesitated, unsure of how to explain.
A month ago, after Zuzong suggested that she might have been poisoned, she didn't believe him at first. But then she remembered how Zuzong had easily neutralized her snake venom and later helped Tang San resolve the Five Poisons. So, she returned to tell her grandfather, Dugu Bo, about it.
When Dugu Bo found out, he was furious and swore to confront Zuzong, accusing him of spreading nonsense.
At that point, Dugu Yan realized her grandfather was truly angry.
Naturally, Dugu Yan couldn't just stand by and let her grandfather go after Zuzong. After all, Zuzong was her teammate. While their relationship wasn't especially close, it wasn't bad either. Zuzong had helped her a lot in their daily training.
After much persuasion, Dugu Yan finally managed to calm her grandfather down. But now, Zuzong had shown up on his own, and it seemed he was here to help Yu Tianheng obtain his soul ring. There was no way Dugu Yan could stop Dugu Bo from confronting him this time. Helplessly, she made her grandfather promise not to harm Zuzong.
Sensing something was off with Dugu Yan, Zuzong didn't say much. He knew Dugu Bo might attack him, but he wasn't worried about getting seriously hurt. As long as he could cure Dugu Bo's poison, he had nothing to fear.
As for how to cure him, well, Zuzong had no problem borrowing Tang San's methods. His philosophy was simple: follow the protagonist's path and leave no path for the protagonist.
"Yan Yan, Poison Douluo is over there, right?" Zuzong pointed in the direction Dugu Yan had come from.
He then turned to Xiao Wu and said, "Xiao Wu, wait for me to return."
Xiao Wu's face was solemn as she nodded. "I'll wait for you."
Just as Dugu Yan was about to tell Zuzong not to go, his voice rang in her ears. "Although Poison Douluo has a fierce reputation, I trust you wouldn't harm me."
With that, Zuzong gathered his soul power and leapt in the direction Dugu Yan had come from.
As she watched Zuzong disappear into the distance, Dugu Yan felt uneasy. She turned to Xiao Wu and said, "I'm sorry, Xiao Wu. My grandfather won't hurt Zuzong."
Xiao Wu nodded, looking in the direction Zuzong had gone. She whispered, "I believe you."
A moment later, Zuzong stopped because he had reached the place where he had sensed Dugu Bo earlier.
Zuzong cupped his hands and called out loudly, "I don't know why Senior Dugu has called me here?"
There was no answer for a long time.
Suddenly, the air turned cold, sending a shiver down Zuzong's spine. He frowned and thought, "This bone-chilling cold must be Dugu Bo. I could use my Blue Silver Domain to locate him, but it's better to keep my abilities hidden for now."
At that moment, Zuzong stopped in his tracks because he sensed someone standing behind him.
In an instant, a dangerous aura enveloped him, causing Zuzong's hair to stand on end. He turned around, but no one was there.
When he turned back, he found that someone had appeared in front of him—a figure entirely dressed in green.
Green hair, green eyes, green armor, and a cold, evil gaze that resembled a snake's. Without a doubt, this was the Poison Douluo, Dugu Bo.
Zuzong cupped his hands again and said respectfully, "I am Zuzong. May I ask why Senior Dugu has summoned me?"
Dugu Bo didn't answer. In the next moment, his body had already appeared before Zuzong.
Sensing danger, Zuzong instinctively used his flash step to distance himself.
Seeing that he had missed, Dugu Bo didn't mind. He simply raised an eyebrow in surprise and said, "Your soul skill is interesting. To think you could move as fast as an agility-type Soul Saint. You haven't even activated your martial soul. Is this a self-created soul skill?"
Zuzong activated his Blue Silver Emperor martial soul and took a stance. "Just a minor trick! How could I dare to show off in front of you? It's like comparing the skills of a person who has just picked up a sword from an expert like Guang Gong?"
Upon hearing this, Dugu Bo frowned slightly. "Kid, who is this expert? Is he nearby?"
Dugu Bo grew wary, suspecting that someone powerful might be hiding, as he couldn't sense anyone despite his rank.
"Uh…" Zuzong felt awkward. It seemed there was no such person in this world. Embarrassed, he explained, "Senior Dugu, 'Guan Gong' is a character I read about in a book. His swordsmanship was said to be the best in the world. Since you praised my speed, I was merely being modest, saying my skills are nothing compared to yours."
Dugu Bo paused, realizing that Zuzong had actually been complimenting him. But that didn't change the fact that he felt tricked.
Dugu Bo said, "Enough with the talk. You told my granddaughter she's been poisoned, spreading nonsense. Today, I'm going to teach you a lesson."
What?! Looks like he's planning to take me down! Although that would suit me just fine, I'm not someone who gives in easily. Let's see how strong I really am. My Sharingan and Blue Silver Domain can't be exposed yet. Even if I use them, they wouldn't be of much help against Dugu Bo. So, what should I do next?
