The curious gazes of the passersby betrayed a mix of awe and judgment as they noticed his shabby attire and a worn watch, which served as a testament to his relentless ambition, a stark contrast to the opulence that surrounded him.
As he weaved through the throng of faces, the clamor of the city gradually transformed into a serene symphony of nature. The labyrinthine streets gave way to the enchanting pathways of Tianhetan, a picturesque realm adorned with verdant mountains and a meandering river that sparkled like liquid stardust as if it held within its depths a treasure trove of secrets or served as a gateway to an otherworldly realm.
Casting a glance at the ancient timepiece, a cherished heirloom passed down through generations, Gao Shou murmured to himself, "She's quite late today." As if in response to his whispered thoughts, a melodious rustling echoed through the air, drawing his attention toward a vision of ethereal beauty. Approaching him with graceful poise, a silver-haired enchantress emerged, her aristocratic presence radiating an alluring aura that could ensnare even the most steadfast of hearts.
"You are quite late today, Li Yu," Gao Shou remarked with a tender smile, his eyes shimmering with affectionate anticipation. "Pray to tell, what reward shall I claim for my unwavering devotion?" he playfully inquired, his voice a gentle caress upon the autumn breeze. Li Yu, her eyes brimming with mischief, replied with a mischievous grin, "Perhaps a kiss shall satiate your desires, my love?" However, Gao Shou's focus had shifted, his heart yearning for a different conversation.
"Not today, Li Yu," he replied, a touch of seriousness coloring his tone. "I long to speak with your esteemed father, to discuss the sacred bond of matrimony that has blossomed between us." Li Yu's face contorted with a mix of fear and hesitation, as she urgently warned Gao Shou, "You mustn't, Gao Shou. You are yet unaware of my father's true nature, and the consequences of unveiling our love may be dire." Intrigued by Li Yu's apprehension and the cryptic references to her father's enigmatic persona, Gao Shou pressed her further, demanding answers to the mysteries that surrounded her very existence.
With a reluctant sigh, Li Yu succumbed to the weight of Gao Shou's unwavering persistence. "It was my fear of losing your love that compelled me to keep my true identity hidden," she confessed, her voice barely above a whisper. "But since you insist on uncovering the secrets of my past, I shall reveal to you the truth. I am..." Before Li Yu could divulge her revelation, a horde of rough-looking figures suddenly emerged from the shadows, their boisterous voices shattering the delicate ambiance.
"How dare you speak with our young miss!" one of the burly figures bellowed, their eyes brimming with hostility. "Our boss shall deal with the likes of you!"
The goons roughly carried off Gao Shou without letting him talk even though Li Yu shouted "Dan Shi, Jack Steves, and Yuji Kino, leave my boyfriend down or I will complain to my father!" Although the goons stopped at her shout they continued saying "Boss will punish us if we don't tell him this stuff!, Miss."
As the goons dragged Gao Shou away to the Shang villa, his heart pounded with fear, his mind racing to comprehend the gravity of the situation. The opulence surrounding him in the Shang Family Villa seemed to mock his humble existence. The golden room, adorned with imported carpets and extravagant furnishings, only served to amplify his sense of awe and trepidation.
Caught in the clutches of Chang Sheng, the formidable businessman, Gao Shou was struck by the irony of his lover's identity. Li Yu, the embodiment of beauty and grace, was now pleading for his life, defying her own father's wrath. The love they shared had blossomed in the face of societal expectations, a forbidden flame that refused to be extinguished.
Chang Sheng, known for his ruthless pursuit of success, stared at Gao Shou with a mix of contempt and fury. The man exuded power, his elegant suit a testament to his status, and his youthful appearance belied the weight of his years. His beautiful companion, who fanned him with delicate grace, added an air of mystery to the scene.
The tension in the room was palpable as if the very air crackled with unspoken words. Chang Sheng's voice thundered through the opulent chamber, demanding an explanation for Gao Shou's audacity to love his precious daughter. The goons, trembling with fear, struggled to convey their purpose, fearing the consequences of their failure.
Yuji Kino, a loyal henchman, stepped forward with a brave facade, pointing an accusing finger at Gao Shou. His words, laced with contempt, only further stoked the flames of Chang Sheng's fury. The businessman's killing intent reached its pinnacle, an icy glint in his eyes, as he declared his intention to hide Li Yu away, shielding her from the world and the shame Gao Shou had brought upon them.
In a moment of pure anguish, Gao Shou found himself torn between love and self-preservation. As Chang Sheng sentenced him to a fate worse than death, Gao Shou's mind raced, searching for a glimmer of hope. It was then that Li Yu, defying her father's authority, threw herself at his feet, tears streaming down her face as she pleaded for mercy.
Li Yu's words echoed through the lavish room, a plea for the freedom to love beyond societal boundaries. Her love for Gao Shou knew no bounds, and in her desperation, she laid bare her heart, hoping that her father would see the purity of their connection.
The room fell into a tense silence as Chang Sheng's gaze shifted between the two lovers. A battle raged within him, torn between his position as a powerful businessman and his duty as a father. The weight of his decision hung heavy in the air as if the fate of their love rested upon a knife's edge.
