William Griffith put down his fork and suddenly stood up, moving closer to her. Looking up, Cherish Turner saw him bend down to gaze at her, reaching out to touch her face. She looked at him wide-eyed, only feeling a prickling pain in her ear as something was put on. She didn't usually wear earrings, butshe knew what he had put on her.

Cherish touched it with her hand; a slick, hard object was attached to her ear.

Feeling a kiss on her forehead, Cherish looked up dazedly and saw his deep eyes. He spoke in a low tone, "Cherish, don't take it off."

Cherish nodded squarely. William Griffith patted her hair, "Good girl, go soak in the hot spring."

The men's and women's baths in the hot spring were far apart, so as per tradition, they would meet at the pavilion after bathing.
