Evelynn blinked at Davis, who seemed to have descended into contemplation.

She didn't say anything, but after ten whole seconds, she appeared before him and grabbed his hand with worry visible on her expression.

"Dear, what are you worried about?"

Davis came out of his reverie. He turned to look at his Evelynn but shook his head.

"… I was just thinking about how to increase Wisteria's prowess so that she can better protect you when I'm not there."

"…"

Evelynn's expression became languid in response, "There's no way Wisteria can match my prowess. Tell me what you were really thinking."

"Ugh…" Davis's smile became awkward as he didn't think he would be exposed so blatantly, "I was just thinking about Lereza and the impact the Nine-Treasured Immortal Ordeal Palace would have on our lives in the future."

"…" Evelynn's gaze sharpened.
