Chapter 2: The Lost Museum

"Yeah, it's true. Right behind that government school." Tina whined.

"No museum is shown behind that school here in the Google maps though." Isha said scrolling through her phone. I could tell just by looking at her how uninterested she was.

"Where is Seema? we found our city map just yesterday. It is clearly marked there." Tina informed being all excited and trying to have some reaction from us.

"Where did you find it ?" Isha asked still looking at her phone screen.

"In that old library... the one where Parul has a membership." she replied.

"Seriously Parul, there was no need to show them the library." Isha said to me.

"Sorry guys." a voice came from the door as Seema entered holding a big rolled chart. she placed the chart on the centre table and rolled it open. A very detailed map of my city- Rupsi. Finally, Isha kept her phone aside and joined the circle to look at the map with us.

"Here" Tina pointed at a spot. "It says the mystical museum"

"This is not showing up on the internet, maybe it already closed permanently, on top of it, it's a museum. it's worth a visit." Seema explained. I looked at the map once again, It appeared very old since much of the spaces were blank. I searched for the date at the bottom right corner where the dates are usually printed. It was stuck between the table top edge and Seema's leg so I had to pull it causing everyone to look at me.

"Just looking for the date." I mumbled.

There it was in bold brown letters - 1979.

"Did you check the date before bringing the map?" Isha asked in a low stern voice.

"It's no use... do you know how much our city has developed under cidco since the last decade itself?" I explained as Isha sighed and went back to sit .

"Sorry.. I didn't see the date. This museum probably doesn't even exist now." Seema apologized.

"But Parul, even if the city has developed doesn't mean that they demolished a whole museum." Tina suggested again.

"Here's the thing, we explore ancient buildings and artifacts. we don't go solving mysteries about forgotten museums." Isha snapped.

"Museums are old buildings too, they have so many historical things."

Tina defended.

"And trespassing is crime" Isha argued.

"Besides, it is still highly likely that the museum either doesn't exist or have been converted into something." I added.

Tina became a bit quiet. She sadly sighed having nothing more to persuade us.

"According to the map, it lies in the outskirts of the city. we should atleast go and check." Seema suggested. "we were studying about the evolution of artifacts anyways" I noticed from the corner my eyes that Isha sat up straight keeping her phone down suddenly having an interest in the conversation.

"But what if someone sees us and thinks we are trespassing?" ironically that sentence came from Tina.

"If we see the museum locked or anything... we won't cross. we could still ask the government school for any information." yet again ironically, that was Isha. Why are they so spontaneous?

"Okay, let's go then." I said and suddenly in a blink of an eye we were already riding our cycles going to the outskirts of the town in search of something we weren't even sure existed anymore.
