Chapter 1: The Start of a Journey

"No I'm not doing it Das."

"You've been here for a year don't you think it's time for you to leave and actually adventure out, this world has more to offer than this place y'know?"

My names Joseph, and I've been stuck in the world of Deepwoken for around a year. I first arrived here after wiping on one of my character slots but instead of being sent back to the character creation menu I got transported in the body of my character.

I was an Etrean with white hair and black snake like eyes, at first I was excited thinking I would have some sort of cheat like a systen based on the actual game so I can level up. But boy was I wrong. I didn't get transmigrated with any cheat or special skill just my characters body and nothing else.

Thanks to Aristo I was able to actually join the Ranks of the Vigil guards, of course it took a month of convincing but eventually I was able to get properly trained and I was stationed as a guard for the training hall. And unlike the game where the isles of vigils was basically empty there were actually citizens and visitors around here.

Sure the population was only around forty but it was still a good amount, right now their were kids getting trained here at the training hall most are Etreans and others were adrets those were the common races you would see around here. Their mothers or sisters were gathering mushrooms and herbs outside before making potions with them with the help of the local librarian Kelsius an adret who has some history with the Authority.

"He's right kid, staying here ain't gonna help you get stronger, hell you can't even learn Gale Mantras."

"Yeah yeah I get you oh great Master Maestro"

This man was Maestro Evengarde Rest the leader of the isles of vigils, he was strong really strong. Back when I played the game only little was known about him but here where everything is actually real he was quite the leader. Rumor has it he stopped an army of the Authority who were aiming to conquer the isles and he apparently did it with a single swipe of his blade.

"I'm serious kid, you're a great warrior but staying here will hinder your progress."

"I know that but where do I even go?"

That was my question, I only knew of places from the game but this world was really vast. I could accidentally end up in the northern luminant and get killed by some random unknown monster.

"For starter's head don't head to Etrea head to the Summer Company and get a gun, it's reliable for awhile until you can actually use Mantras"

"I might just take you up for that offer, but I'm gonna go visit Kelsius and tell him of my departure"

"Great he's actually leaving!"

"I'll miss you to Das."

I said my goodbyes to Maestro and Das and made my way to the library passing by the children who were running in the halls while getting chased by their trainer, it was a daily occurrence. But as I got closer to the library the noice of children laughing and running was soon replaced with pure silence with the occasional sounds of frustrations from the Vigil Apprentice's doing their research.

"Hey Kelsius how are you doing"

"Good to see you Joseph, thank you for getting my books back from Etris"

"No problem, I got something out of it as well"

"Ah, that book how's it fairing for you?"

The book Kelsius was talking about was a book called 'Amplification Application', it basically gave a long explanation how to apply Ether to your muscles to amplify your strength agility and dexterity. Unlike the game attunement-less mantras were just amplified physical abilities one could even use it with climbing.

"I know how desperate you are for strength, it's still disappointing how you don't have any talent for Thundercall..."

"Well yeah it's alright, by the way can I borrow a book about survival in heading out to the summer isles soon and I don't want to starve out in sea."

Hearing my words Kelsius actually had a shocked expression he never expected me to leave the isles but his look of shock turned to a soft smile before grabbing a book under his desk and placing it on top.

"I've had this book for awhile now, you'll find it to be quite helpful."

I grabbed the book from his hand before reading the title and I was surprised to find out that it isn't a properly made book it was more like a journal.

"Research Journal, Sign Kelsius of the Authority..."

"That's right it's an old book of mine when I was a part of the Authority, of course I wouldn't give you my current research Journal but you could at least have this it contains recipes for medicine and ways to obtain fish with a stick while out in sea."

"Thanks Kelsius I'll repay you back some day"

"No need I don't want to see that journal ever again it makes me remember all the sins I've committed, just don't die out there alright Joseph?"

He offered a handshake that I of course accepted before saying goodbye, I made my way to the inn to start prepare my stuff and hopefully Trevor could fix up my sword before I head out. Then again he would probably try to leach off my notes.

[The Tale Of Tides]

The Authority is the so called 'Protector' of the land, their basically the Nazis of deepwoken and are obsessed with conquering.

Notes are the equivalent of Money in deepwoken, 50 notes is enough for a sloop.

Gale is Wind Magic, Thundercall is Thunder Magic.

Luminants are basically the territory of the game consisting of the Etrean Luminant Eastern Luminant Southern Luminant Central Luminant Western Luminant and the Northern Luminant.

[The Tale Of Tides]

Right now I was setting up my Sloop with all the crates filled with supplies I would need for around three days, since in game it might take a minute to get from the isles of vigils but it would take around 4 hours to do so.

The journey to Summer Isles was 8 painful hours, not to mention that Lion Fishes would come out and try to eat me.

"Now remember your wearing the uniform of the Isles of Vigils, don't do anything stupid that would tarnish our reputation."

Maestro was leaning on the post here at the docks watching me prepare the sloop, he came to said goodbye after saying a long speach about acceptance and the journey ahead.

"Good to see Trevor actually gave you a better Katana"

"Yeah it's sharper than my old one, he said he used an alloy to increase its durability and sharpness."

"Well kid it's been fun beatin- teaching you for a year, Aristo would be proud."

"You think so?."

Aristo in game was the person you go to for free notes, but in this world he was the guy who saved me when I arrived. He taught me how to cook in this world which was a great skill to have as I can now make a delicious meal out of a couple mushrooms and herbs, he sadly passed away due to a wound infection when he got ambushed in Etrea.

"I hope to see you again Maestro."

"Yeah Yeah, don't die on me kid!"

And so with saying goodbye I set my sails down and started steering towards the left making my way to the Ocean Gates seperating each Luminant.

"God I hope this goes well."
