Chapter 161: Battle in the Midst

Right now, Zen and Dave are about to make it outside.

The noise of the gushing water increased the closer they got to the end of the passageway - the air becoming cooler. The stark spill of natural light around the bend confirmed their suspicion of an opening in the cavern.

Rounding the corner, they were momentarily blinded as they stepped from the darkness of the tunnel. It took them several seconds before they could turn to the massive fissure in the rock's ceiling that revealed the bare sky.

The ground was slightly more fertile, though the green was fungal in nature and many of the larger rocks bore lichen. The sound of water was nearly deafening now - the air thick with moisture.

It was utterly freezing out here, a fact which both invigorated and annoyed both of them.

The bluff they stood on stretched on for a few meters before ending abruptly. They wondered how far down the water lay.
