They had a long discussion about Yorozuya's business model and found each other extremely capable.
Jason leaned more towards leadership skills and understanding human nature, while Cobblepot was a business genius. The two of them hit it off almost immediately, planning to expand this business model throughout the East District.
They continued discussing until dark. After which, Cobblepot made a trip to the Iceberg Restaurant, recalling his commercial territory in his own mind.
Then, he received a call that there had been an outbreak of conflict in Savage's area.
At that moment, in a corridor in Hell's South Section, Savage sidestepped an agent's assault. However, his opponent was highly professional. The firing of two shots blocked his path of motion, whilst three more agents emerged from the elevator ahead.
Despite being surrounded, Savage found an escape route. He seized an opportunity and charged between two agents. He shook off four to five agents trailing him and jumped out of the window at the end of the corridor.
There was an awning beneath. Savage used it to jump onto the balcony of the lower floor. He rounded the corner over the balcony and then headed down.
But just as he reached the ground, he saw two cars closing in on him. Instinctively, he sensed it was a trap set by the agents and fled in another direction.
But he failed to realise that those in the cars were mere common mob members. He was forced to head towards Hell's North Section.
Unlike the South Section, the North Section was populated by mob enforcers. Earlier, Savage's attempt to force his way into the North Section resulted in most people recognising him.
Seeing Savage charge towards them, they thought that this strange man was trying to break in again, resulting in a big commotion and fireworks.
Despite being pursued by the agents, Savage was not injured. Yet, since he rushed into the North Section, he was scratched by a stray bullet on his arm, and his eyelid injured by the rocks splashed from the ground by a rocket. Seeing a tank closing in on him, he decided to accelerate and escape from Hell's area.
But that didn't mark the end of the chase. More mob members were alarmed. Children running back and forth in the crowds, passing on messages as more mob members were pursuing Savage. The situation was almost reaching the levels of mobilisation when the Green Lantern Corps arrived.
The entire East District boiled over. Everyone was trying to capture the strange man, Savage.
Even though Savage excelled in martial arts, he was overwhelmed by the number of mob members armed with guns and canons, not to mention, even if these were just sheep equal to his number, a demon would need to fight. Savage did not wish to get involved and could only retreat whilst fighting.
Gunfire is ruthless, and as time passed, Savage incurred more wounds. Unfortunately, it started to rain in Gotham again.
The cold rain washed over Savage's wounds. Before long, Savage realised that the wounds felt infected - hot and swollen. Moreover, the rain was exceptionally cold that night, it fuzzied Savage's consciousness when it hit his forehead.
With a loud "thud", Savage fell off the wall of the alley. His arm was cut open by shattered glass pieces. He was bleeding non-stop, the pain disrupted his effort to support himself and he fell.
The mob's car was in close proximity. Savage clenched his fist, preparing for a desperate battle. Suddenly, a reflection of light shone from the puddle, a pair of hands dragged Savage into it, or more appropriately, into the mirror reflection of the puddle.
"Are you alright? Your Majesty?" The voice of Master Mirror resounded in Savage's ear. "God, you have lost so much blood. I need to stop the bleeding for you first…"
"Quickly, get me out of here!" Savage urgently said, "The agents are after me and so are the damn mob members. We need to get out of here quickly!"
"But you've been severely injured, Your Majesty. We need to find a place to rest and recover first…"
"There's no time for that!" Savage gritted his teeth and replied, "Did you not say that ordinary people can't stay too long in the Mirror Space? We must seize this opportunity and get out. If we get out and we are still in the same place, we will continue to be attacked!"
"Alright."
Master Mirror transported Savage through the Mirror Space. As they moved, he glanced at the bleeding wounds on Savage's body and the rain soaking his clothes.
It was evident that Savage was growing delirious. In Gotham's rainy weather, having exposed wounds washed by the rain, going insane was just a matter of time.
Master Mirror smirked coldly but still opened a door in the Mirror Space. When they landed, it was the tranquil Central City Apartment Room.
"Your Majesty, Gotham is too dangerous, you're injured again. It's best to rest here before returning." Master Mirror said to Savage, "This is the apartment I rented before, the lease has not expired yet, you may stay here first…"
"Where are you going?" Savage asked, looking at Master Mirror.
"I have to go back. Captain Cold and Pied Piper are still in the hands of those Gothamites. I have to rescue them." Master Mirror placed his hands on his hips and sighed, "The faculty of Gotham University are really tough to deal with. I only found a chance to escape when they were not paying attention…"
"However, Captain Cold and Pied Piper do not have similar abilities. If they are trapped too, then your time and effort would have been wasted. We have to at least evacuate our manpower!"
Savage sighed deeply, watching the bustling traffic outside his Central City apartment window, he inexplicably felt peaceful.
At this moment, he was completely alone. The majority of his fluid assets and collections were left in Gotham, the henchmen he painstakingly picked and cultivated had been left there. Other than his wounds, he did not bring anything back with him.
Yet, at this moment, Savage felt extremely lucky. That terrifying city seemed like the epitome of the world's insanity. Now that he had returned to an orderly society, he let out a sigh of relief.
He thought, well alright, at least he was still alive. He could earn back the money he lost, he could recruit lost manpower. At least, he, the great King Vandal Savage was still alive.
Temporary failures do not equal eternal defeat.
Savage looked at the night sky of Central City and thought- the next time he visits Gotham, everybody would kneel before the great King's might, and that everyone would be engulfed in absolute fear.
Meanwhile, in the office of Gotham University, Shiller moved the beads of his abacus and said, "Forcing him to fight desperately really doesn't pay off…"
"Let him have his respite and fatten him up, before we can slaughter him again."
