Chapter 52: Chapter 40 Cat and Bat (Part 1)_1

Bruce lay on the hospital bed. Harvey adjusted his upper body to a higher position and then poured him a cup of water.

Bruce said somewhat worriedly, "She is fickle, her mood changes like the weather, really like a cat. I can't figure her out. Right now, I am only worried that her temper can harm others. After all, I have the best medical resources in all of Gotham, others might not be so lucky."

"You should be relieved that your kidney didn't rupture. The dagger was short, and it only left a shallow scratch on your organs, otherwise, by now you would be left with just one kidney."

Harvey put down the pitcher and said: "In my school days, there was a girl I was crazy about. I relentlessly pursued her. Until one day, we went on a date, she deliberately threw a bottle far away to tease a janitor."

"At that moment, I thought, how could she do such a thing? She was so bad and didn't deserve my car. But then I realized, it was my love for her that had turned her into a perfect being in my mind. In reality, she was always like that, bad-tempered, liked to mock others, looked down upon people in the service industry. She never changed. It was I who, blinded by profound affection for her, had too high expectations."

"When I broke up with her, she found it absurd. At that time, I didn't know that indeed, I may have seemed like a madman. First madly pursuing her, professing my love, then suddenly proposing a neat breakup. To anyone, it seemed like a humiliation, so she was very upset."

"Later I thought, that was perfectly normal."

Bruce felt a bit embarrassed to speak, but he still said: "The problem with that girl is much more severe than the problem with your ex-girlfriend. And there's the probability that she could harm others. Physically."

"The problem is not about that, the question is, didn't you know about this issue when you met and fell in love with her?"

Bruce then thought, didn't he know? He was well aware; he met Catwoman while she was in the middle of a crime.Suddenly a thought occurred to him,how could he have fallen in love with a criminal and that too while she was on a crime scene?

Once Harvey left, Bruce fell asleep due to tiredness.

In his dream, the glamorous light of the jewelry shop illuminated the pearl necklace scattered on the ground. Suddenly, all the lights went out, as if everything had returned to that dark alley again, only the strand of pearl necklace was glistening faintly.

Batman never liked any jewelry, especially those that shimmer, just like a real bat.

But his mind was flooded with images of that girl with the shining gemstone and a sly smile on her face.

In his clouded vision, the glow of the pearl in his memory suddenly did not seem so repellant. And the end of the dream was still a group of bats casting countless shadows across the sky.

The next day, Shiller was somewhat surprised when he saw Bruce in the psychologist's office. He looked Bruce up and down and said, "Have your wounds healed already? Can you walk so soon?"

"Actually, it still hurts a bit, but it's not a big deal anymore. My organs haven't suffered a significant injury, and now they are almost healed."

Shiller said: "Well, you don't have to waste my cup of coffee then." So he only pours one cup of hot coffee for himself. Bruce was a bit speechless and said: "I'll have a glass of water."

After they sat down, Bruce said, "Harvey doesn't know my real identity yet. I think it's better not to tell him just yet. But right now, I'm very troubled. The female thief who stabbed me shows up in my dreams every day."

"I'm even reluctant to put on the bat suit. Once I meet her, I don't know what to say."

It never dawned on Shiller that Batman's first psychological counseling problem would involve Bruce's teenage romantic troubles.

As the comics fans know, Batman and Catwoman are true loves. The writers spent a lot of ink detailing their love story. Indeed, a Dark Knight, wrought with deep resentment, and a crafty yet beautiful criminal. Even if the background is the extremely dark Gotham city, would still attract a considerable number of readers.

Shiller said: "It seems like Harvey has already counselled you, but it appears to be of no use?"

"What Harvey said makes sense, Before I fell for her, I already knew she was a thief, in fact, I met her when she was robbing the jewelry store. I don't know how I could have fallen in love with a criminal. This is absurd..."

Shiller asked: "What do you think turned you into Batman?"

Bruce contemplated for a moment and said, "Many things."

"Then what do you think turned her into a thief?"

Bruce remained silent.

"So, you haven't understood anything about a girl's past or family situation, and you're moping here."

"Are you sure you really like her? Or do you just want to have a one-night stand?"

"We haven't even slept together," Bruce said.

"Should I applaud your purity?" Shiller said, then he looked at the side of Bruce's waist and said, "You haven't even slept with her yet, and she's already stabbed one of your kidneys. I'm a bit worried about your safety now."
