Even after the beasts left, they didn't came out of the river for half an hour . they understand very well that if the beast had sences their presence, there won't be a new dawn for them
Meanwhile the temperature leaped down, even more in the water, when they came out of the water they are freezing out of could .
They didn't even dare to ignite the fire again that night. they came back to tha camp and stayed still looking at the only luggage bag left there and it belongs to Ervin's small bag that he unpacked from his big luggage bag And Dan didn't had a bag to begin with. Kai and Dan looked at Ervin with a small hope that the bag contain some clothes to, even tho it's going to be very tight for them to where but better than their wet dress . Ervin understand why are they looking at them and said in a disappointment tone
" Don't look at me like that ...! It's just some tools and small weapons were need to deliver in the village, nothing else. If the flying beasts have took this , I don't know which is better way to die, by the had of my father or the beasts "
Even though the tro have lot of questions about the situation, no one asked anything to anyone, because they know they are not gonna get an answers yet.. only thing they know is that it was a miracle that they are alive and that was all tanks to Dan's fast decision. And the best is a flying type and it is very high level one at it.
Ervin pic up the bag and looked at them and said
"I think we should start moving. it's not safe to stay here any longer, never has been. And it helps to get our bodies to heat up."
Both nodded and cautiously walked through the forest, covering ground until dawn and decided to take a rest at a mountain's peak,
The journey since the encounter was tough. As time passed, the air grew colder, yet they pressed on. Legs felt like they'd fall apart, numb.
Reaching the mountain top, seeing the first sunlight brought some ease. Although the forest was never safe, daylight offered more hope than moonlit shadows.
This dawn felt special... warmth touched their cold bodies... The moment was surprisingly pleasant. Since leaving camp, they hadn't talked.there was Nothing to say they are afraid to make a single noise.
watching the new dawn made them feel alive.
Kai took a deep breath and asked,
"What was all that... does anyone have an idea?"
Dan and Ervin exchanged glances, and Ervin responded,
"I don't know. Even though it's our first time outside the Village, even though it's a very dangerous place... I never thought this much. It seems we are in a smoke after all. No one in the village mentioned it. Even when my father decided to let us go on this journey, I thought we could manage it ourselves... But it seems..."
"Well..., no one can blame you for that. From my experience, none of our villagers talked about anything outside the Village. More than that, do you guys even wonder what's the name of our village ?.
I do know one or two things more than you guys, but I'm still in the mist. It's just that I have more questions..I did know a bit about the place we set our camp and the river, it was a safe place from high level water beasts. And it seems it is, but I didn't know about the air beasts... I'm sorry, guys. I shouldn't have let my guard loose."
Dan was very disappointed in himself.
That's when Kai realized something.
"Wait, wait, wait... I was just talking about the flying beasts. I was curious about what they are, where they came from... things like that. When did this turn very complicated?"
Ervin simply laughed at Kai and said, "That's because, back in the village, you were just being you, the energetic kid who liked to run around the village, feared nothing but his mother. You didn't care about other things. Let me ask you one question, Kai. Dan is the oldest kid in our village. The people older than Dan are more than twenty-five years old, so where are the other kids?"
Kai scratched the back of his head and said, "Wow. Now that you mentioned it, I never thought of these things, even once. However, a day before the disaster... Lilly mentioned or started to tell me a story, not that typical story she used to say all the time but..."
Kai abruptly stopped talking, creating a moment of suspense that made Ervin eagerly ask
"But what!? What did she say?"
Ervin's curiosity peaked since the topic connected to Lilly. She always stayed mysterious, even for the villagers. Besides, almost everyone came to meet his father and also spent time with Lilly to discuss things that happened outside the Village. Because of that, he had his own doubts that he didn't discuss with anyone.she showed something supernatural powers that day made him perplexing...
"That day, it was too late after dusk, you guys were on the ground, practicing... And mother came looking for me... So the story never started properly, only made me excited for a few seconds... When I told that to mother, she was kind of shocked for a second. I think she did know that things are going to get complicated."
a hint of sadness lingering in his gaze as he immersed himself in the bittersweet embrace of old memories. His contemplative demeanor reflected the emotional weight of the past.
Those days are not that pleasent to remember. However that day made them ask lots of questions to themselves, what is really happening... Is it only happening in our village or is it happening in other places as well, who is the elf Lilly really is, every time they try to connect the dots give them more question as if something is not letting them know .
Ervin's eyes widened as if he figured something out, and said
"Now that i think about it.. hey kai, I'm sorry to make you remember some bad memories but can you tell me what my father told you when 'that' happened to your mother "
Kai's gaze fell, avoiding the present, lost in the haunting corridors of his memories. His detached demeanor hinted at a momentary disconnection from reality, as if the weight of those days held him captive.
"I..l don't.. know... academy!he said something about academy"
A heavy silence enveloped them. Ervin immersed himself in thought, his brow furrowed as he pondered. Kai teetered on the brink of tears, emotions visible in his quivering lip. Dan, seated in contemplation, his expression a tapestry of reflection, seemed lost in profound thought! . Or is he?
An air of uncertainty lingered, accompanied by a palpable anticipation as they are in the journey to the academy. Ervin, sensing the gravity of the moment, broke the silence with a question that held the power to illuminate the unknown, seeking insights from Dan, the sole voyager beyond their village.
" Hay Dan, what do you think about academy?. you are the only one in our gang who ever went out of our village, what is your opinion about the 'academy' "
Dan's eyes widened in shock....
