Chapter 20: Chapter 20- The Church
Carl's POV-
The new comers were getting slightly annoying. All they were talking about was getting to D.C.! "We should get going." Abraham said for the hundredth time. "Help! Help!" we heard in the distance. "Come on!" I said turning to my dad. He shock his head, saying no. Fuck him! I thought as I ran off. "Dammit Carl!" A del yelled as he chased after me. We finally came to a rock that had a man on top of it. Me and Adel quickly jumped into a tion killing some of the walkers around it. My dad seemed hesitant but helped after a moment. When they were all dead the man came sliding down the rock.
"Hello. And thank you." he said stepping forward to shake my ha d although my dad and Adel both jumped in front of me raising their weapons. Good to know they don't think I can take care of myself. I scoffed aloud. "Hey asshole, I'm trying to help here." Adel said with a slight smile dancing on his lips. My dad looked back at us and gave me a look. I wish I didn't know what the look was but I did. It was disgust. I held back tears, but only long enough for my father to look forward. As soon as he was facing back towards the man I dropped my head and let a few tears escape. I didn't realize it then but Glenn had been paying close attention to the encounter. I walked over towards a tree not caring a out what they had to say.
Glenn's POV-
What the fuck was that! The only thing they did was talk and Rick looked at him like he was disgusting. And even if it was more there's nothing wrong with that! I'll have to talk to Carl about it later. Plus Abraham said something about a disturbing conversation between the two last night so I'll ask him about that. I always seem to be doing a lot of asking. I wish I could just know something for once! I tuned back into Ricks conversation with the man. Rick was yelling about something but I only caught the mans response. "I asked God for help and help came. I do not need to wilde a weapon." Why is he talking like that! Also like he's dumb!
"Do you have a group?" Rick asked. "No. Although I do have a church." the man said. A church? "A church? What the fuck are you a priest?" Abraham asked. Did he really jut ask that? Like did he not see the dudes whole outfit? I let out a little laugh at that. "What? You think that's funny?" Abraham yelled. "Just a little bit." I said. Abraham was about to punch me when Axel jumped into it. "Both of y'all stop! Your acting like 5 year olds!" he yelled clearly irritated with our behavior. "Tch. Whatever." Abraham said a she walked off in the direction off everyone else. I didn't even realize we were going somewhere. I looked back to see Carl still sitting there.
"You coming?" I asked causing him to run over to me. "We were a safe distance away from the rest of the group so I decided to talk to Carl. " What was that about with your dad earlier?" I asked. He stopped for a second then resumed walking. "I do t think he likes me hanging put with Axel very much." He said quietly with his head down. "Why?" I asked. I already k ow but I wanted to k ow if he knew. "Because he likes guys." Carl said as he lifted his head up and stopped again. Except this time he didn't restart his steps. "My dad is a homophobic asshole! What else do you want me to say!" he yelled at me. "I wasn't trying to make you uncomfortable." I said feeling a little guilty. "It's fine. It's not like its your fault anyways." he said as he's at down. I joined him on the floor and we started to talk.
"What's wrong?" I asked. " I'm gay." he said really quietly. "Oh." I said in that awkward voice I do. (If y'all are Glenn fans then you know exactly what I'm taking about) "Do you like-" he cut me off. "Yeah." he said putting his head down. I laughed a little knowing damn well that Axel liked him too. "What's so funny?" he asked sending a slight glare my way. All the sudden I heard a all to familiar voice. "Your a fucking fag!" Tanner all but screamed. Carl jumped up. "Wait! No! I can explain!" he started rambling. She ran off and he chased after her. Well that fucking sucks. I sighed and started walking to the church that I could see from where we sat.
Carl's POV-
I got up quickly and began to chase after Tanner. Fuck! She's gonna tell my dad! He's gonna hate me! "Tanner! Stop! Please!" I yelled out and she finally stopped. "What do you want!?" she yelled at me all but spitting in my face. I realized right in that moment that all of the pride I had yesterday had turned to fear. I realized that I had become exactly what I hated. But it didn't matter anymore.
"Please don't tell my dad!" I said my voice cracking. "Why shouldn't I?" She asked. "I'll... I'll owe you a favor!" I said frantically. "Hmm... that's not good enough." She said. "I'll do anything! Just please don't tell my dad!" I said. "Okay. I want you to kiss me." She said. "Huh?" I said. What the fuck!? "You heard me." She said sassily. "But" she cut me off. "No buts! Do you want me to tell your dad?" She said raising her voice slightly. Shit!
"Don't! I'll do it. Okay?" I asked panicking still. "Okay." She said and closed her eyes. I just a stood there awkwardly. "Well are you gonna do it!?" She asked with her eyes still closed. "Yes!" I said. I then leaned in with my eyes still open. I attempted to just peck her lips but she pulled my head in. I just kinda stood there awkwardly. I started to tear up a little. I hate this! After what felt like an eternity she let go. "Did you like it?" She asked smiling. I just looked down at the ground and ran off.
Tanner's POV-
I can't believe he just ran off like that. I then heard a noise. I looked over to see Axel standing to the right. He had tears streaming down his face. Although a smirk is all that was present on mine. "I hate you." He said quietly. "Yeah but he chose me." I said. I knew that this was not true but it was nice to imagine. I then left him sitting there in the dirt crying. What a little bitch!
Glenn's POV-
I had gotten to the church about 20 minutes before when Carl walked back up. He looked upset. I could tell something was off because usually when we got to a new place he would be all over it. "Hey what happened?" I asked. "I don't want to talk about it." He said his voice breaking slightly.
I then watched him walk off. What the hell happened? I just sat there for another 5 minutes until Tanner showed up. "What did you do to him?" I asked her quite forcefully. "Which one? They both seemed rather upset." she said and then walked off. Both of them? Carl and who else? I thought for a moment and then realized. Axel!
I ran towards we're Carl and Tanner had come from. I walked around for about 10 minutes before hearing something. It sounded like someone was crying. Looks like I've found my man. I stepped out from behind a tree and saw Axel. I just sat down beside him.
After a couple minutes he looked up at me. "Hey buddy. What's wrong?" I asked wrapping my arm around his shoulder. He just started to cry harder but this time into my shoulder. About 10 minutes later he started talking out of nowhere. "He kissed her." He said quietly. "He did what!?" I yelled slightly surprised and irritated. Why the fuck would he do that? He just said he liked him.
"He kissed her. I don't think he's knows I was there though so don't tell him." He said quickly. "But-" I tried to say, but was quickly cut off. "Just don't please." He said wiping away his tears. "I don't even know why I'm upset I mean I knew he doesn't like me so why am I surprised?" He asked himself. "I don't know." I said. He hugged me and we stayed like that for awhile. Of course he had to fall asleep in the dirt.
