Chapter 67: Subtle Cues

Song Zhuyu raised a hand to knock on the door, and shortly after it swung open, revealing a middle-aged woman with short hair that barely reached her shoulders. She had a slender frame and quite an unremarkable appearance, if he could be honest. 

Surprise flashed in her eyes upon seeing Song Zhuyu and Chen Ru at her doorstep. "You are…"

"Hello, Mrs. Ma, we're very sorry for intruding," Song Zhuyu greeted Ma Boliu's wife with an impeccable smile, while beside him Chen Ru barely managed to force a smile on his face, as the memories of the deranged villagers with blood marring the lower half of their faces still haunted him until now. But fortunately, she didn't seem to pay much attention to Chen Ru in the presence of Song Zhuyu's blinding smile.
