Chapter 68: Trade Empire 5: Speak of the Devil and He shall Come
After the light faded and they were able to see they soon saw both of themselves again, but this time considerably older at that.
I wasn't showing their complete futures but allowed them to get the general feel of the future to come.
Oden meeting WhiteBeard and wanting to journey with him, the challenge had to take to make that possible, the cry for help from Toki where he went to save her, them falling in love.
"Hifumi, why can't I see that woman's face?" Oden said noticing that for some reason both he and Kin'emon can't tell what she looks like.
"My sight shows the future but I don't wish to ruin the fun of experiencing it all so your families faces will be unrecognizable for the duration of this seeing, if you completely know everything then where's the fun in that? I'm only going to show you what happens after you leave on your journey and leave that untouched as that's where you shall meet your true enemies that want to harm you and the people of Wano." I go on to explain as I paused the vision before resuming it.
Soon he joins Whitebeards crew with his wife and begins his journey outside of Wano, after that I rapidly skip it forward to his return to Wano and what has happened to its people.
Him returning to his territory in ruins, his men explaining what happened that his father, the Shogun, was overthrown and was replaced by a new Tyrant, a man he had no clue would ever do such a thing.
Kurozumi Orochi and with aid of Kaidou of the Beast Pirates had taken Wano as their own territory absolutely ruining the environment of Wano and making the lives of its people an absolute misery.
I could feel both of their hands tighten on my shoulders when they saw what had become of the people of Wano with the pain and suffering they had gone through.
So Oden stormed the flower capital to take down Orochi personally, but was stopped by the aid of Orochi's last known family members with one of them owning the indestructible Barrier Devil Fruit that Oden no matter how hard he tired couldn't break through it.
Seeing as he wouldn't die Orochi Gloated and said that this is what Oden and everyone in Wano deserves after what they had done to his family all those years ago as they hunted the entire family down only for what his grandfather tried to do to Odens father.
He then made fun of how stupidly kind Oden and the rest of people of Wano were to give him money for free as he built up a small fortune to use to gain alliance with the Beast Pirates and allow him to overthrow the Shogun and become the next Shogun of Wano as a result.
This pissed off current and future Oden even more and swore that even if he couldn't kill Orochi right now, that didn't mean he would go and destroy everything he has built up as he would deal with him and the Beast Pirates and make them regret ever harming Wano.
Orochi knew that was a legitimate threat already prepared for that and said that he had over a 100 hostages at his disposal, if Oden went through with that he would either execute them all or have them turned into slaves and sent to the beast pirates to work in their weapon factories.
This made Oden stop as he truly cared for the people of Wano and he didn't want more lives to be put at risk as a result of him dealing with Orochi, but it seemed like Orochi would make a compromise.
So long as once every week he would go to the Flower Capital and danced around like an idiot through the streets for five years he would agree to give up the title of shogun and leave along with Kaidou as they would have both the money and weapons to properly settle somewhere else.
"Oden-sama…. Please don't tell me you-" Kin'emon began to say before he saw Oden agree with Orochi's demands which made me hear an audible face slap from Kin'emon as I could imagine him shaking his head.
"Oden, you have a good heart, but you should never trust your enemies to keep their promises as Orochi is a man who will get what he wants no matter the cost with the most underhanded of means, he won't keep his deal as he has no honor." I say as we skip to seeing Oden dancing through the Flower Capital with a bright smile on his face as he wore nothing at all as he slowly began to ruin the reputation he had built up over time from his acts.
After five years of humiliating himself Oden had enough as the time came and he realized Orochi didn't keep the deal so he went to attack again, this time also fighting Kaidou as well, beating the dragon and leaving a massive scar on his chest, but before he could deal with Kaidou, his son was captured and used as a hostage which left him open to be striked down by him thus resulting in his loss.
Then they were captured and sent to be executed three days later where the events of the Legendary Hour took place as he carried all of his current and future retainers on a giant wooden lid while Oden himself was in immense pain as he was put in a cauldron of boiling oil.
He was able to keep his promise of keeping them all safe allowing them and his family run away safely before looking at Kaidou and Orochi with a smile on his face.
"I Am Kozuki Oden!" He shouted out as he struck a pose before their eyes, "And I Was Born to Boil!" He said with immense pride in his name before Kaidou pulled out a gun and shot him in the head making him fall back into the boiling pot of oil and dying with a great big smile on his face.
That was the end of Odens life, but then we focused on Kin'emon, and the rest of the retainers escape.
His daughter and a few others split up and went into hiding while Kin'emon, Kanjuro, Raizo and Kikunojo went to the castle to save Odens family as they had set it on fire in anticipation of what Odens Retainers would do.
Odens wife had the Time Devil Fruit and flung those four along with her 8 year old son 20 years into the future to deal with Orochi and Kaidou and avenge what had happened to them all on this day as they were flung forward in time to 20 years into the future.
(N) Before the Final blow was struck, I opened a portal in time and Flung him into the future where my rule is Law, Now the the fool seeks to return to the past and undo the future that is Aku- Samurai Jack Opening.
"I need to show you what becomes of you four as…. One of your four trusted retainers that were sent into the future was always a traitor…." I go onto say as I could feel the anger and sadness that both men felt as they saw how everything went, but the anger grew even more as they knew one of those four, well three if we exclude Kin'emon, was a traitor.
So I showed them the last scene of Kanjuro's betrayal after Orochi said out loud for him to drop the act and come back to the Kurozumi family, which he did willingly as he beat and captured Momonosuke and had him delivered to be executed by Orochi and everyone else.
Soon everything went to white and the room returned to normal.
Seeing this I felt them both let go as I turned to look at them both and saw the dark looks in their eyes at the future to come.
"Hifumi…." Oden said as he looked up at me with a determined look in his eyes, "Thank you for showing me that, and I have no doubt what you showed us was the truth…. It just saddens me that it is all true and that I can't even trust one of my closest retainers now." Oden said sadly as he knew what he must soon do to keep the people of Wano Safe from future suffering.
"Oden-sama…. Let me-"
"No, it's my responsibility so I shall do it myself…. you know for a while as I saw everything I thought 'maybe this is all an elaborate joke by Hifumi' but when I heard the name of my future son…. I knew you were telling the truth as no one but me knows what I would name my first born son to be called Momonosuke…." He said with a sad smile as it all was true and that none of it was a lie at all with no shadow of a doubt.
Soon we all took a moment of silence as I let them think of what they wished to do, but soon we heard a small knock as we turned to see the door to the room open.
It was young Izou, "Oden-sama that man has come by asking for aid again." He said as he looked at us a bit oddly as we were all standing by the far wall talking to each other instead of in our original spots.
"…. Who exactly?" I could see Oden clenching his fist tightly as he had an inkling as to who it was.
"It's Orochi Sir, do you want to let him in to see you?" Izou asked not noticing the hidden anger boiling from his lord.
I placed my hand on Odens back as he turned to look at me and Kin'emon as we nodded to him, he then nodded back before decomposing himself and looking back with a smile on his face.
"Sure sure! Let him come in, I wanted to see Orochi sometime soon after all, so what a perfect time then now, oh and Izou let everyone else come here while you and Kiku can go back to your training in the mean time while we have a nice long chat together." He said which Izou just nodded before he shut the door to do as Oden commanded.
"There's a saying for situations like these happening in the outside world." I say as I stand between them both as I had no plans of leaving here as I will see what happens next.
"…. What is it?" Kin'emon asks as he and Oden return to having dark looks on their faces.
"Speak of the Devil, and he shall come."
