After a bit of happy crying on my shoulder she soon let go of me as she got a bit shy for hugging a guy out of nowhere, especially one she had just met.
"Sorry about that, I'm-I'm just so happy that I don't see those things anymore." She said rubbing her eyes to clear away the tears.
"Well as I said this is just like putting a bandaid on the problem, this isn't a permanent solution, especially as those fox spirit women are still following you to collect on their debt with you, what they do for you, they don't do it for free." I say shaking my head as her situation isn't fixed yet.
"W-well what do I need to do then?" She said nervously as she didn't want anything bad to suddenly befall her or the people she knows.
"Well we need to purify the false 'god' it's the only way to free yourself from the contract that is attached to your soul, though they can't do anything if you don't return to the shrine they will instead target someone close to you, and if you went with anyone to that shrine besides just yourself then they will target them." I say as I see her eyes widen in shock.
"Oh No! Hana is in danger then!" She said when she knew that she and her friend Hana were the only two who went to that shrine together.
"I see, your friend, has she been getting hungry a lot or conversely has she started to become sick more often." I asked to determine the where exactly in the story of hers were currently at.
"!!! Yes! Yes she has, and those things have been sticking to her more often, those fox spirits helped her out once, but then they angrily pointed at me before they vanished again." She said as she was clearly getting nervous now about everything coming together.
"And while she was there she made a wish herself right? Because then that means now if you don't go back soon they will start collecting interest on her life force, she will be constantly hungry to an agonizing amount and will quiet easily get sick as well more and more often as the sicknesses she gains will get more and more severe, and eventually….." I say as a shake my head as the look of terror on her face was clear as day that she was scared for the safety of her best friend.
"Wow, what a cruel thing to say to a girl about her friends safety, but your not wrong with what you said that will happen to her if things progress." I hear a voice from nearby and turn along with Miko to see a rather gloomy looking man wearing a suit and top hat on his head.
"And you are?" I decide to ask even though I know him.
"Ahh how rude of me, Shindou Romm at your service." He said as he tipped his hat to me, though he looked me up and down with interest.
"Though I must say, that power to completely obliterate those 'things' is quite shocking, I've never met a powerful spiritualist such as yourself in my life, the energies of life and death flow seamlessly off your person." He said as he circled around me with clear interest in his eyes, trying to figure out what exactly I am.
"But those questions of mine will have to wait as it is integral that we help Ms.Miko out of this precarious situation of hers, and seeing it's only midday and it's not far from here, I say we end this sooner than later." He said to us as I could see a glint in his eye when mentioning that Shrine.
"It's not just helping her is it?…. You have something to do with that shrine as well, right?" I say as he wasn't exactly hiding his intentions of going to that shrine as well.
"Take it as you will, but this is good news for Ms.Miko, with you here we won't have to call upon her friend who has abundant life energy to pierce that barrier to get to the shrine in the first place."
"Wait what?! You were going to suggest that I would bring my best friend into that terrible place to just get in?!" Miko shouted out in surprise and obvious anger and what Romm had said.
"Well now we don't have to do that so no need to worry, and in case you just went there on your own without asking for any help and you hadn't met your new friend here, I did have a plan B option to force our way through the barrier, but with him here we have nothing to worry about when we get there, it even saves me money as I won't need to use up my spiritual supplies." He goes onto calm Miko down a bit as a result since yes I was here, and indeed I wanted to help as well her story is both sad and funny at times, her manga is an actual horror comedy so it's pretty good in all honesty, but she shouldn't have to put up with this stuff just because her hidden Mystic eyes have begun to act up to such a degree that she is silently suffering as a result.
"Well that's true, can't exactly just sit by and watch someone get harassed by those things, though you should have told her that they can't physically harm her in anyway, they can only attach to you to leech off your lifeforce at most, though when they attack you and you can see it but can't pretend the attack doesn't effect you, it will then really effect you, if your mind thinks your dying then you really start dying because a ghost killed you." I go on to explain something integral that she needed to know about when it came to ghosts.
"Like…. Like when I saw this axe ghost chopping at people, since they didn't see it they didn't feel anything right?" She said as she remembered that creepy axe ghost that chopped at people at random on the bus she was riding that one time.
"Something like that, if the ghost isn't as strong as say those female fox spirits, if they go in for the attack and you just shut your eyes when the attack is coming you would only feel a chilly breeze going over your body and making you shiver, but strong one's, even going all out can leave burning scratch marks on your skin, like what people say when they are attacked by demons, but as I said it's a different story when you can actually see it and let it physically hurt you because you make your body perceive the pain of being cut apart." Which is true and only really, really strong spirits can actually hurt the non sensitive living by at most scratching them, making them sick, or in worse cases, just sap away all their luck in dangerous situations.
"Well this has been very enlightening, and I'm sure Ms.Miko would love to hear more but the longer we talk, the less time we have of daylight to deal with her Shrine problem, so follow me kids, we have a job to do." Romm said with a clap as he decided to end this discussion for now as time really was of the essence.
Both me and Miko looked at each other before I shrugged, "He's got a point, the sooner this is over, the better it is for you in the long run." I say as I turn and follow him, Miko hesitated but followed right after me.
One thing was for sure, the Shrine God was going to be dealt with today.
