Chapter 18: Assault on Arkham (3)

A few hours later, the mission had begun. Killer Frost, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, and Harley Quinn were in charge of the initial infiltration. Once they took control of the cameras and security system, they let in Killer Croc, Red Hood, and Ravager who had snuck in through the sewer system. The second group also brought all of their equipment which the infiltration team had changed into. Now began the fun part of the mission.

"Alright. Now that we have our gear, let's be careful. This place is meant to hold the worst of the insane and also those that are very dangerous and powerful. Keep your guard up."

The others nodded and followed Harley as she led them from the sewage entrance to the surface. She then brought them toward the middle yard that separated the employee building with the 'patient rooms' which were a nice way of saying cells.

The group hid behind a set of trees as they approached the main gate the to patient area. In front of the gate about 50 meters away from them were 4 watchtowers watching over it, each with a guard in them. Deadshot raised both his arms, ready to fire at the guards.

"Oi, mate. I got the two on the right."

"Whatever. Don't miss your throw."

Deadshot and Captain Boomerang attacked at the same time. Both of Deadshot's targets were dead instantly. Boomerang killed one on the first pass but missed the second.

"You missed!"

"Wait for it."

The boomerang swung back around and decapitated the guard. Captain Boomerang caught it in his hand with a smug look on his face only to get punched by both Red Hood and Deadshot.

"You idiot! He got a message off!"

And just as Deadshot had declared this, 20 guards came out of the gate with their guns drawn and flashlights aimed all around.

Deadshot looked at the approaching guards and frowned. He wasn't a saint nor would he pretend to be one but he hated when plans went off the rail like this. It meant their chances of getting caught would increase.

Just as he was about to give orders, the maniacs under him decided what their next move would be. Everyone, except the teens, rushed out of the woods and met with the guards.

'At least the kids are..."

Just as he was thinking Red Hood and Ravager were better, he noticed that Red Hood had just thrown something toward the guards that created a small, blue explosion. Meanwhile, Ravager was missing.

Killer Croc was used as the bullet sponge with the other following close behind him. Ravager had snuck past the guards at some point and attacked two of them from behind. What soon followed were the death or major injuries of 20 guards and the superficial injuries of the villains.

"Fuck! They probably know that we are here now!"

"We're good. Red Hood threw out an EMP grenade. Their radios are completely ruined."

Deadshot looked at Red Hood who nodded in agreement. This allowed him to breathe in relief for the first time since the mission started.

"Let's just hurry down to the vault so we can get out of here!"

While they were walking, Jason fiddled with his modem before an explosion emoji flashed across his eyes. Harley led the group to beneath the patient rooms where the armor was located. What protected the armor, was a steel door that was at least 3 inches thick.

"My turn!"

Killer Croc rushed up to the door and tried to take a bite out of it but his teeth broke on impact. Meanwhile, the door was completely unharmed.

"Harley. You used to work here. You know the code?" Red Hood asked Harley

"Hmm. Sure do, hun! It's the warden's birthday backward."

Harley then walked up to the 3 different keyboards before inputting the code into each of them. After she did, the gears on the door started to shift and it opened before them.

What greeted the team was a warehouse filled with large boxes. Each of these boxes belonged to a patient and each of them had their criminal's tools inside. And none of it was truly organized.

"Split up. Find Nigma's box and then we will head out."

Thus the group split up. While the original Task Force X was looking for Nigma's box, Ravager and Red Hood went on their own way.

The pair went back into the patient's cell area. Once they were there, they split off in different directions. They were assigned another mission by Talia and one by Waller.

Red Hood approached a cell with a redheaded man inside. The man looked out as if he was expecting him.

"I knew waller would send someone. I'm too clever for her to let me live."

"I would say annoying. Riddles suck."

"Ouch. Anyway, before you paint this cell red with my blood, don't you want to at least know why Waller wants me dead?"

"Nope."

Red Hood unloaded a full clip from his Saratoga into the cell. Although these things were bulletproof, they could only take so much. By the time the clip was emptied, a child could break the glass with a punch.

"Wait! Wait! I know how to disable the collars! I can help you!"

"Nope," Red Hood rejected again before unloading his Kyubi at the glass. This time, the first shot broke the glass and pierced into Nigma. The next 5 shots were to make sure that he was dead.

He met back up with Ravager who had a lot of blood on her. But since she was there, it meant she complete her task.

"You look terrible."

"He wouldn't give up at first. Thanks for the drug."

"No worries. Let's get back to the others."

"No need," the pair heard someone say. They turned to see the rest of the team carrying weapons they definitely did not bring with them.

"Wanna explain what you two were doing?"

[What I asked them!] Waller declared through their earpieces. [If you're done, get out of there. The Bat won't be distracted for much longer.]

Deadshot wanted to press on but he also didn't want to meet with Batman so he held his tongue. At least until he got the bomb out of his neck and he could question them.
