Chapter 18: Do Handcuffs Make it Better?

Drowning in each other, Roxy and Gunner were lost in the moment. There was nothing beyond them, not the parking lot, not the police, not the demons still roaming due to Richard's pact. Roxy greedily drank Gunner's passion, their mana curling together and building up to a feverish momentum in tandem with their movements. She urged him deeper, faster with growing need.

A low growl rumbled in Gunner's chest, as he caught his breath. "Ah.. I'm close," he murmured into her mouth, firmly pressing her leg against his shoulder as he rocked his his hips. The movement plunged his root deeper into her petals. Her gasps squeezed her channel tightly against him, drawing him further. Roxy moved against him, encouraging him as power coiled tightly inside of her seeking release.

She tightly embraced him, moaning into his neck, "I want to feel you." Gunner captured her lips, crashing against her in building ecstasy until she was was left gasping for air in the cresting wave. Euphoria and mana burst, setting her adrift, clinging desperately to Gunner for support.

A knock on the window broke the spell she'd unintentionally been casting. They looked up to fogged, tinted windows with someone with a flashlight peeking in. Gunner grumbled, kissing Roxy one last time. "What?"

An awkward cough. "We wanted to ask you some questions about what happened," the male officer explained. He had a idea of what he was interrupting but opted to ignore it to speed up the process of getting witness statements. "Make yourselves decent and come back inside."

Roxy muffled her giggles against Gunner's chest. She knew it was a risk that they'd get caught since the police were everywhere and they had settled in the parking lot. She considered if this meant she was an exhibitionist in this life or really just horny for Gunner.

"Sure," Gunner groaned. He returned his attention to Roxy, pulling her close as he kissed her. He grinned, running his thumb over her bottom lip. He watched her with an equal measure of desire and the pressing need to be responsible. The longer they delayed, the longer it'd take them to get resettled. "Looks like duty calls. We'll continue this after a shower and do this in a bed."

"Business before getting back to business?" Roxy teased with a wiggle of her hips to remind Gunner that they were still intertwined. She wasn't done with him but she left the choice up to Gunner starting to reach for her clothes.

"Oh, it's like that then?" Gunner trapped her wrists against the leather of the bench seat with a playful grin. Roxy's eyes glittered in the light as she met the intensity of his gaze. "I guess if they've waited this long, a few more minutes won't kill them..."

-----

Roxy smoothed down the fabric of her dress as she and Gunner waited for their turn to be called. Gunner nonchalantly smoothed his hair back, his shirt untucked and mostly buttoned. The other patients they had seen in the waiting room earlier had left, leaving behind the emergency room staff and the police. In their interlude, things had settled into spatterings of quiet conversation and the crackling of radio chatter. Roxy looked around, wondering if Richard was dead or if someone had managed to revive him after they ran out to chase down the demon. She hoped that Richard didn't, otherwise she might have to worry about Richard weaseling out of jail or plotting how to kill him again.

"I'm glad I didn't rush with the rate they're moving right now," Gunner commented with a grin, interrupting Roxy's thoughts. His arms settled around Roxy's waist pulling her back against his chest. She turned her head with a smile, leaning up to steal a kiss.

"I didn't realize that there were so many people involved. The waiting room didn't look that full when we came in," Roxy commented, leaning against Gunner's side. "Think he made it?"

Gunner frowned, shrugging. "It's a strong case against Richard if they managed to get him back up after you hit him." He lowered his voice. "I don't think anyone understands what happened, only that Richard attacked us and we fought him off when he collapsed on the floor."

"Any idea on what deal Richard made with the demon?" Roxy whispered. If anyone was watching, they'd just see a couple too preoccupied with one another to care about public displays of affection despite the danger they had been subjected to earlier. The scenario was too outlandish otherwise. Three people returned from another world by magic with demons following allow behind them, leading to a situation with a man waving around a gun in a emergency waiting room.

"If the deal was just to return him to this world, then another resurrection shouldn't be a concern. But if the bargain was to keep him alive... then we might have to resolve matters like this again," Gunner sighed. "I'm not sure this justice system is equipped to deal with a*sholes with magic."

A dark haired officer wearing a gold name tag of "Tillman" approached them. "We're ready for you, sir. Please follow me back." He smiled apologetically, gesturing for Gunner. "It'll only be a few minutes and then you can check in with a counselor if you need to talk to someone, or you can go home."

Gunner gently kissed Roxy's forehead, letting her go. "Sure." He followed Tillman around a corner towards one of the exam rooms they'd set-up as an interview room.

A blonde female officer wearing a name tag marked, "Kirie" approached Roxy, her expression was haggard but not unkind. "Please come with me, miss. Let's get you sorted out so you can go home and get some sleep."

Roxy smoothed her hair and followed Kirie into a requisitioned treatment room, further partitioned with drawn green curtains with a couple of chairs in the center. Kirie gestured for Roxy to sit. "Please have a seat." Once Roxy sat, Kirie sat in the chair opposite. "What's your name, miss and what can you tell me about what happened here?"

"I'm Roxanne Pierce." Roxy wet her lips, considering how she'd explain what happened. It was strange to her and it was her life. She tucked an errant lock behind her ear, taking a deep breath. "Well, I hurt my hand at the Cave when the power went out and Gunner brought me her to get my hand looked at." She held out her mess of a hand for Kirie to see. "There was a bit of a wait, but then that man came in and started yelling and waving his gun around."

"Gunner was who?" Kirie pursed her lips together as she took notes. "Did you know the man with the gun?"

"Gunner was the man I was with, we're college friends. Yes, Richard's an old acquaintance from high school. He just came back from being missing for several years," Roxy explained.

"Did you have contact with Richard before the incident in the ER?"

"I carpooled with him to the Cave for his welcome home party before the power went out," Roxy set her hands on her lap. "He was acting strangely but then there was the chaos in the club so I left without him."

"Did you two have a fight?"

Roxy shook her head. "Not at all. I went to the bathroom and was in the hallway when the power went out. I got spooked and broke my drink glass, hurt my hand before I ran into Gunner in the dark."

Kirie nodded, tapping the pen against the pad of paper. "What relationship did you and Richard have? Were you close?"

Roxy shook her head. "Not at all. I saw his post about being back from the dead and we talked about meeting up for his party. Nothing more serious than that."

"Interesting. Any idea why he'd be yelling for you?" Kirie asked gently, trying to determine what exactly it was that Roxy was hiding from her.

"Not sure. We weren't together, if that's what you mean," Roxy shrugged. "I had a crush on him in high school but it never went further than that. Do you know why he did that?"

Kirie shook her head. "We can't seem to get more information than he came into the waiting room looking for a woman fitting your description. So let's back up. He came in, yelling for you and waving the gun - then what happened?"

"Gunner tried to calm him down. Then Richard saw me and lunged at me. I defended myself and Gunner tackled him trying to protect me. Then the power went out. Crazy night for power outages, I wonder if there was a storm?" Roxy commented.

Kirie frowned and nodded. "It is strange." She clicked her pen again. "Gunner tackled him, you defended yourself, then what happened?"

"It's hard to tell. It got dark, he started convulsing and then the police arrived," Roxy shrugged again. "I got spooked and ran away."
