Chapter 1: Chapter 1
I open my eyes. I think it's somewhere near 6 AM, because it still looks dark out. Nobody seems to be awake. Usually I don't wake up this early, naturally at least, but there's a strange feeling I've had since I woke up. Why do I have this feeling? I don't know. The best description I could make of it would be something like a mix of Deja Vū and feeling…empty, like I had lost something of mine.
This 'feeling' of mine wouldn't let me go back to sleep, so I just got out of bed and got dressed with the usual blue jeans and whatever shirt I grab. If something was missing, it's gotta be something important, to affect me so heavily. I walked into the tiny kitchen in the house, and pulled out a box of cereal from the pantry. After pouring some of the cereal in a bowl I grabbed—along with milk of course—I started to eat it, but didn't feel hungry. What is this feeling…
Did I forget about a family member leaving for vacation or something? I don't think anyone has left the house in quite a while, other than groceries and the common stuff. The cereal was soggy at this point, pretty much a waste when you're not hungry. I drank the milk from the bowl and threw the cereal in the trash, although I felt hungry yesterday, before this feeling.
A strange smell threw my thoughts about this whole feeling, something rotten. It's hard to describe the smell from how bad it was. Perhaps food dropped and left on the floor from laziness. The closer I got to this smell, the more rancid it got. It got to the point of an old, rotten dead animal smell, like roadkill. And then I saw it.
