As the sounds changed outside of the trailer, the movement of air felt stale, it felt as if they had entered the subway. This feeling wasn't wrong. The pressure was different underground, it was damp, uninhabited. Sound traveled differently as well in the restraining fashion that it found itself in.
Lelouch observed his friend impatiently as Zach simply stood there, resting against the interior wall of the trailer.
"You might want to brace yourself," Zach informed, knowing exactly what was going to happen very soon. They were going to crash, there was a hole in the ground and Nagata wasn't going to stop the vehicle in time, considering he had been wounded at some point from hostile weapons fire.
Lelouch raised a brow and pressed hugged onto the capsule which had the majority of his friend's attention and interest. Suddenly the entire trailer jerked as the truck's front end crashes and becomes immobilized.
"An accident? Or..." He slowly raised to his feet, looking about. Zach had already vanished from sight, it was much like him, to just disappear in plain sight.
Moments later, due to Nagata's button pushing in hopes that his Resistance Leader finds him, opens the door of the trailer and activates the capsule.
"What the...?" Lelouch looks over towards the opening door of the trailer and then towards the capsule. Almost completely unawares of the honorary Britannian who was charging towards him.
Zach nestled himself behind the capsule, not warning his friend as he knew how this would go down. And just as it happened in his memory, the man who attacked Lelouch was none other than their childhood friend, Suzaku Kururugi.
"A Britannian..n!" Lelouch was pinned to the ground, the soldier's hand grasping at his throat and collar.
"Enough with the killing!" Suzaku Kururugi's pleaded with the boy who he believed to be a terrorist until he got full view of his face.
"Wait!... I'm..." He struggled to get up, to reason with the man and clear up the assumption. He didn't really have to try too hard.
"I can't believe you people would use poison gas! Don't play dumb!"
Within moments, Lelouch attempted to kick the man off of him, and got to his feet as the honorary Britannian dodged and recoiled away from him by jumping back.
"If there is any poison here, it was made by Britannia, right!?" Lelouch challenged the soldier without knowing who he was, still pleading with him, with a grand tone. "You don't want more deaths? Then obliterate Britannia!"
With both of them now on their feet, Zach stepped between the two of them as Lelouch came into the light.
"Lelouch... Zach...? Its me, Suzaku."
Suzaku Kururugi could recognize both of his friends, though he was rather curious as of why Zach was present in the trailer. He smiled seeing them both as he took off his helmet.
Lelouch seemed to gasp, surprised by this, as memories circulated through his head. "You became a Britannian Soldier?" He asked, clearly displeased though not entirely surprised at the notion.
"And you two, don't tell me you two are..."
"What are you saying?" Lelouch seemed to be the only one verbally conversing.
Zach didn't have any real reaction either, just gave his friends both blank glances.
Just then, the Capsule began to open. Suzaku, who believed the lie of poison gas, could only feel the need to shield both of his friends, Zach raised a hand slightly however.
"It's not poison, no need for heroics." He waved his hand to dismiss the stance he saw Suzaku begin to take. The last thing he needed was to be tackled to the ground, and it probably wouldn't be pleasant for a shaken Lelouch to be taken to the ground once again by his best friend.
"But that's what I was told in the briefing..." So claimed Suzaku.
In a mixture of liquid and light, a girl dressed in restrictive white clothes, green hair, and golden eyes arched her back out as she sat up on her knees. Her eyes opened and her apathetic gaze matched that of two suitable Geass wielders, Zach and Lelouch.
As his own personal history came to mind, he remembered meeting her during the invasion of Japan by Britannia. She remembered him as well, as she had been observing Suzaku and Lelouch at the time.
Though their confrontation was brief, Zach seemed to smirk at her wondrous appearance, combing his hair through his fingers. "Long time no see, C.C."
Both of the men looked to their friend and stared at him for a few minutes. He knew who the girl was? They helped her down and Zach put her on his back.
His eyes glancing in the direction of footsteps which were closing in on the location. It was only a matter of time before the Royal Guard showed up. Instead of getting out of the trailer, Zach moved out of sight with Lelouch beside him.
"Tell them the Terrorists already fled and that there is no indication of poison being present."
Suzaku nodded as he was informed by his friend of what to say, since he wanted to protect them, he couldn't disagree with this. He figured that the Britannians would probably have them executed, just for being there, considering what was in the capsule.
He stepped out of the trailer as if he had just finished examining what was there, and started looping around it before suddenly some lights snapped on and the entire trailer was illuminated.
Turning to see the commander of Clovis's royal guard, he raised a brow and rushed over to the group of men whom were heavily armed. "Damn Monkey! 4-0-4, what is your report?!"
The man was obviously disgruntled from what he could see. There was no one there and the capsule they were tasked with taking back, was empty.
"The terrorists have already fled this location, Sir! The capsule... I found nothing, there is no indication of any gas release." The Royal Guard Commander seemed to be rather pleased, seeing as the Honorary Britannian
"Then it must've been a dud," He condescendingly dismissed the false findings with his retort. He glanced around and huffed, "We'll meet them at the exit!" He raised a hand and made a whirring gesture.
However as Suzaku went to turn around, he felt a weight of a barrel pressed against his attire. He turned his head, only for a pistol to release a single shot into the young man's side.
"Congratulations, you've died in service to our Great Britannia." The Royal Commander sneered and turned away from the unconscious soldier, having not hit a vital, but a trinket given to him by his father.
He was then collected by other soldiers present and brought to the medical station outside of the soon to be combat zone to be treated for injury.
Once the officers of the royal guard were gone, Zach turned to Lelouch. "Get the driver, he's still alive."
"But, they're terrorists!" Lelouch retorted at the request of his friend, getting into a staring contest for a few moments.
"Don't you want to obliterate Britannia?" He asked curiously, staring at the man who was before him. The word he used, was the one that Lelouch always used. It struck him hard, and it sprouted some new ideas.
'I see you've found a reason to live...' A voice erupted in the back of Zach's mind. He closed his eyes as he knew whose voice it was.
Lelouch listened as his friend turned from him and did as he was told.
Images began to appear in Zach's mind. His eyes remained closed as he watched the scenery of two worlds, people with the Geass emblem on their foreheads. 'You want the power to protect them, to take his place. If you had power, you could do it, right? I'll make a deal with you. In exchange you will–'
"I accept," before she could give the terms and conditions of the deal, he accepted it, using his foreknowledge of these events as a way to predict the future.
His right eye would be illuminated with the Geass symbol,
Nagata laid there across the drivers and passenger seats, blood staining his uniform. Lelouch stared at the man, then towards the photograph. He was going to die soon with or without treatment. The student frowned as their two gazes locked.
"You and your friend should go," Nagata grunted as he had heard everything that was going on outside. How they had turned an Honorary Britannian against Britannia without much effort. The pain was becoming unbearable, "I'll... get them to circle back around."
Lelouch followed the gaze of the man's eyes to a switch, a suicide switch. He grimaced slightly, "You've got to be kidding me!" He grabbed the side of his head, he wasn't afraid, but annoyed. It was written all over his face.
Turning to his friend who was behind him, disembarking from the trailer and making his way towards the emergency entrance, an alternate exit not on the original maps, Lelouch followed after him.
As he kicked the door open, it was revealed that the entrance was partially submerged with water at the lower levels. And some of the staircase were collapsed on the way up. "It'll work..." He muttered as Zach could hear the explosions up above them, accompanied by machine gun fire.
He and Lelouch nodded to one another as they made their way up to the surface. Stumbling over rocks due to the lack of light due to how low they were below the surface. About mid-way up, Lelouch had to use Zach as physical support due to being rather unfit for extended athletic activities.
Once they reached a door which was marked as A1, Zach shoved the door open with the tip of his boot, and stepped outside. A single Sutherland stood over them, not having noticed them yet as it was preoccupied with taking orders.
Lelouch looked around in horror at what the Britannians were doing. They were killing innocent Japanese people. Slaughtering them in order to cover up this C.C.'s existence, it was not something he could accept.
Activating his Geass, Zach glared at the Sutherland which loomed above him. Suddenly the cockpit opened, the man inside stood up and looked down at the men who were carrying the woman on one of their backs.
His irises were surrounded by a red ring, he was under the control of a person with Geass. Of course, no one else truly knew this.
Unlike Rolo's and Lelouch's powers which had limitations based on sight and surroundings, his was a mental type which allowed him to overwrite biological thought and artificial data. All he had to do was use his ability to sense them, and then infiltrate their mind. His limitation was his mental constitution and consciousness.
The man descended from the Sunderland and walked towards them with a faint smile across his lips. Approaching Lelouch who was contemplating on trying to steal the Sunderland from the pilot, paused as he stared at the key being held out for him to take.
The pilot gave the necessary information to Lelouch, such as the registration number of the unit.
Lelouch was rather confused, only to glance over towards his friend who had a strange symbol in his eye. He blinked a few times then examined the pilot closer as he took the key. "Mind control..." He narrowed his sights on his friend for a few moments before quietly maneuvering over to the Sunderland and getting into the cockpit. "You have a lot of explaining to do when we get back to the Academy!" He shouted at the man before closing the cockpit and storming off, to do what he does best.
