Chapter 1: The Day An Assassin Was Born

//Year, 1205//

I opened my eyes to find myself in a seemingly old-fashioned cathedral with massive stained glass windows behind the altar and rows of pews behind me. Looking around it appears to be empty. "H- Hello!" I call out only to be answered by silence.

I begin to get up to find out where I am when I notice some small little hands that I clearly remember being big. "W- Wha- Ahhhhhh!" Confused, I begin to question as the panic sinks in, but before any thoughts can settle I feel what can only be described as the equivalent of being hit by several buses as memories start to fill my head.

After a few hours that felt more like days, the pain began to subside. 'So I've reincarnated into a different universe slightly around the conclusion of the third crusade. But was it really necessary for it to hurt like a bitch just to know that!' I shout, inwardly, upset at whichever ROB was such an ass. I try to think back to how I got here. I only remember the last few events of my life and some entertaining media but seeing how I got here I shiver in both fear and anger.

As it turns out, I died from a skyscraper falling on me! Yeah! A fucking skyscraper and the worse part is that I managed to somehow survive at the price of my mobility only to be finished off by Truck-Kun and when my soul finally arrived before a Goddess, she bitch-slapped me away while saying ew!? What the hell!? Anyway, the important thing is I reincarnated into the body of a thirteen-year-old boy named David Dayton, orphaned due to the Crusades.

Well, ain't that dandy? At least it can't get any worse… After looking off into space for a solid ten minutes, I finally decided to have a look around the Church to figure out where I'd reincarnated. Looking around, I find a mirror, and what I see is incredible. Looking back at me in said mirror is a handsome young boy with unnaturally blue eyes that seem to have a slight lunar glow contrasting with his deep black hair and almost snow-white, pale skin that appears to be as smooth as jade. "I- Is that me?" Well, I guess things aren't all bad.

Looking around some more, I find what seems to be a parchment with a personal letter written on it. But that wasn't what I focused on; No, what I look at is the date and address.

Reading the letter, I was shocked for three reasons. Firstly, I was reading old English, rather fluently I might add. Secondly, was that this letter was addressed in Britannia, which probably means I am in the world of Code Geass. 'Well, at least it is not Attack on Titan.' But the most interesting thing about this letter, by far, is the fact that it has the Assassin's Creed symbol on the red wax seal. Thinking about it I realized that this could be very badass or very very bad. I mean think about all those relics of Eden and power-hungry Templars in a world with giant robots. Yeah, not good, man. Anyway, I need to somehow join the Assassins. It seems like the best course of action for now.

After learning everything, I finally decided to get out of this church. For the first time, I open the doors and am immediately greeted by the sight of an elderly man adorned in priest's robes. He looks at me for only a moment before he smiles and says, "Ah, good morning child. You must be itching for something. Else you wouldn't be up at this time of day." This is Father Grin, the one who has been taking care of me since my parents died. 'Still didn't have to hurt like a bitch to remember that.'

Taking out the letter with the Assassin symbol on the wax seal, I say, "Father Grin, I found this letter on the ground in the church." Out of pure curiosity, I asked the old priest about the letter. "Hmm, well it would seem as though you've found something interesting. Did you by any chance read the contents of that letter, my son?" The old priest said to me with a close-eyed smile that was a bit too bright. "No, I have not." This is true, I've only read the address information but I also know that the letter was addressed here. "Huhu, well I found an organization that is willing to take care of you," laughs the cheerful old geezer. "What!? But what about you old man? Who will take care of you when I'm gone!?" I mutter with clenched fists and a downcast head, the memories of this body affecting me.

Even though I barely met the man, I have lived with him my whole life since my parents passed so it's only natural that I would be upset. I may have been someone else in my past life but I am now David Dayton, a 13-year-old orphan raised by a priest.

The priest's sad eyes dally on me, staring down at the child he had raised for a couple of years and if one looked closely into his eyes, one could see regret and sadness. "Worry not child, you and I still have time to be together before you are off to join them." He comforts, a genuine smile on his face, and in his warm embrace, in broad daylight, only one thought full of sadness and pain came to my mind 'Father'.

My body feels the sincere solace of relaxation, there in his arms, as years of memories surface in my mind. This is a man I truly respect. My mentor, my guardian, my protector, my teacher, my father, my dad. No one in this world will ever replace him, not now, not tomorrow, or even a thousand years from now. He is and forever will be my Father Grin.

//Three days later//

Father Grin and I spent a few more days together. We enjoy the last few moments, and when I finally feel ready to part ways, four white-cloaked and hooded figures come with a familiar one-armed Malik, Altaïr's most trusted. It feels so bizarre meeting him in person. "My name is Malik, I'm here to take you to Masyaf where you will be trained to become a part of our order." He speaks in an authoritative tone. "Is there anything you would like to say?"

"No, not really," I reply. 'If anything, I'm excited to see Masyaf in person and maybe I'll get to meet Altaïr.'

Taking my answer as confirmation to leave, we began our journey to Masyaf on horseback. Whilst on the road, I learned that I'll be trained in a group of nineteen other children who have also lost their parents due to war so I won't be the only recruit in training. Although, we would be the youngest to ever join the order.

//Three weeks later//

Whyyyy?! Why? Did I have to reincarnate in an old era and spend a week on the back of a fucking horse? MY. CROTCH. FUCKING. HURTS! "Um, are you okay? You look like you are about to cry," the bastard Malik inquires. "I'm fine but why did we only set up camp twice in all these three weeks," I question with the most believable false smile I can muster. "To see if you'd complain," he imparts with almost no emotion as he had said this many times before. "If you were to complain at this small discomfort, your future training would be harsher to improve your pain resistance." 'Oh, thank the bitch goddess that I didn't open my mouth.' "We've arrived," states one of the Assassins in the front.

Looking ahead of the group, I see the familiar site from the game, Masyaf. In front of me is a small village alongside the road we currently travel that leads up to a magnificently unnatural castle, sitting atop the edge of a cliff that falls to an abyss of an ocean, and all around there are people clad in white hooded robes with weapons strapped to their sides.

I can't believe it. I'm here in Masyaf where the most influential Assassin led the order to spread worldwide in secret. This is the town where Altaïr changed everything and the first game's town in the Assassin's Creed games. I know this place like the back of my hand. I'm so excited about my new life here, even if I experience a little pain, sights like this are all I'll need.
