Chapter 2: Magenta Life

"Welcome Rion Stevano,"

A woman with short black hair stretched out her hand while smiling sweetly as Rion got out of the car.

"Thank you, Nancy,"

Rion returned the woman's handshake without a smile. The woman held back the smile on her lips so as not to fade at the response of the man in front of her. She directed Rion to the building where the event would be held.

"How long are we here for?" Rion whispered to Alex, his secretary.

"About an hour sir."

Rion glanced at his watch and started counting down in his heart, he wished everything would pass soon because he doesn't like attending charity events the most, it feels boring to him. He saw Nancy smile at him and started the show. Alex glared at him a few times when he saw himself yawning. Rion rolled his eyes in annoyance, he had to be demanded to look perfect at a time like this.

He stared ahead lazily looking at appearance after appearance being displayed, nothing of interest to him. His smile reappeared as he remembered the girl from the previous show, her piano playing somehow touched his heart.

"Did you find out about the girl I asked for?" whispered Rion in the middle of the event.

"We're still on the show, sir," Alex replied politely. Rion rolled his eyes again in annoyance and stared ahead at the appearance that would somehow end.

Loud applause was heard when the orphanage children stopped singing, signaling that the show was over. Rion can finally breathe a sigh of relief because he can go home soon. He immediately stood up and adjusted his coat.

"Thanks for coming. I'm Maxim, the head of the orphanage here. I hear you're not one to come to events like this."

A middle-aged man approached him and shook his hand while looking at him happily. Rion answered with a faint smile. "I should have come as the main donor,"

The middle-aged man continued to chat about the orphanage which Rion didn't want to hear at all. Alex who understood his boss's gaze immediately cut off Maxim's words, "Sorry, but Mr. Rion has to attend the next event,"

"Ah right, I'm sorry for talking too much. Thank you again for coming," said Maxim, he bowed as Rion started to walk away from him.

Nancy who was beside Maxim could only shake her head at Rion's behavior, she was very rude but that was her best friend.

"I don't have any more schedules after this?" asked Rion who just got into the car.

"That's right, sir, there is a schedule to meet with investors after dinner,"

"After dinner, you have to get the girl's information," said Rion as he closed his eyes because he was tired after attending an event that he thought was boring. Alex could only nod and began to slowly drive his car across the street.

Magenta POV on

I'm waiting bored in the car because my mother wasn't in. I saw the person who picked me up sitting in the driver's seat made me have to keep acting even though I really wanted to open my phone to get rid of boredom.

"Do you already have a boyfriend?"

The man sitting in the driver's seat suddenly asked, I could see him glancing at me through the windshield with a wild look.

"Nothing," I said. I took the pillow next to me to cover my thighs which were clearly visible due to my very short dress.

"Too bad, but you are beautiful,"

The man turned and looked me up and down with a look that disgusted me. I tried to control my expression even though my hands were already tightly clenched against the emotion. I leaned back as the man stroked my hair.

"Your hair is very beautiful," said the man, he more and more daring stroked my hair and began to come down to hold my shoulders. I hit his hand roughly and shifted my sitting position.

"Come on, stop acting pricey,"

I can no longer contain my anger. I closed my eyes and imagined myself doing martial arts, I immediately twisted the man's arm until he screamed in pain. He rebelled and wanted to grab my hair back but I easily dodged and grabbed his neck until he was cornered in the corner of the car. I tightened my grip on his neck until he started gasping for air.

"What are you doing now!"

My mother immediately grabbed my hand until the strangulation on the man's neck was released. The man immediately took a deep breath, clutching his neck which was red from my strangulation. I opened my eyes and sat back in the back seat quietly. The man looked at me with a bit of fear, he couldn't believe that the girl in front of him was a blind girl.

"Don't mess with my daughter, you know she has a special ability right?" my mother said to the man. The man just cleared his throat in response to my mother's words, he started the car and turned on the music to overcome the awkwardness.

My mom knows what's going on just by looking at my expression because this didn't happen once but many times I was abused like this.

"Never mind, you can handle it, don't be spoiled,"

That's what mom always said when I complained. I always teach those who abuse me a lesson that they always seem scared of me if they see me again.

I went straight into the house using my cane when my mother led me out of the car.

"Is it true that your daughter is blind? She strangled my neck really hard," the man asked as he stopped my mother's hand.

"Never come to pick up my daughter again," the mother slapped the man's hand and slammed the door shut. I could see the offending expression on the man's face from inside the house, the man slammed his car door in annoyance and drove his car quickly away from my house.

"Tomorrow you will dance ballet and paint," my mother said when she saw me taking off my contact lenses.

"Could you cover me up, I don't want them to look at me with wild eyes like I'm food,"

"Your body is one of your charms," my mother whispered in my ear, her hand stroking the wound on my stomach slowly making me wince in pain. I bit my lip, I really wanted to use my powers and avenge my mom but unfortunately for some reason, my powers didn't work on my mom and I hate to know that fact.

"Get some rest," my mother said but soon the doorbell rang. I stood and peered through the window. Mother held my hand when I wanted to open the door.

"That's Jessy and Henry," I said.

My mother immediately looked away when she found out that my two friends had come. I quickly opened the door and let them in.

"You are okay?" Henry immediately asked, I followed his gaze which led to the wound in my stomach.

"Just a small scratch," I said, putting on a more covered shirt.

"You performed again today?" Jessy asked while looking at the lens case on the table.

"And tomorrow too," I said quietly.

Henry and Jessy looked at me with pity. "I wish I knew your mother's weakness," Jessy said quietly. "Forget it, we've been looking for her for a long time," I said.

Jessy and Henry are two of my friends my mother allowed us to be friends with because we were friends since childhood. They also knew about my abilities, they were very surprised at first when I told them about I can do anything when I closed my eyes.

"Are you kidding me?"

That was their response but they both finally believed that I could do whatever they asked me to when I closed my eyes. But when I found out about my strength was the beginning of the disaster, I shouldn't have said that to my mother. The mother who initially didn't care about me suddenly became interested and kind to me when she found out about my strength. She manipulated everything and said I had an accident that left me blind when I entered high school. Since then I was known as a child who was blind but could do anything.

"Did you know? I tried to find information about your power but there is absolutely no information about it. I instead found about a power that can destroy anything when its eyes are closed, contrary to your power," said Jessy taking out some papers from her bag.

"Isn't there the name of the owner of that power?" I asked, reading the paper he was given. Jessy shook her head "Probably a secret, like you,"

I nodded in understanding, it must not be easy to hide that power from others if anyone noticed. I'm so grateful that not much of my power is aware of it, somehow my mother managed it.

"I wish I could help you like Jessy," Henry said sadly.

"Come on, your presence has comforted me too. Isn't that right?"

Jessy quickly nodded and quickly pulled my hand and Henry's. He turned on my television and picked up the mic next to her. The three of us immediately laughed and started singing together trying to comfort me who had to live in restraint.

I leaned myself on the sofa because I was tired, I let Henry and Jessy continue to sing with enthusiasm. I am very grateful to have both of them as my best friend because they never divulge my power to anyone.

Sometimes I think if I was like Jessy, born a rich kid who could do anything, I definitely wouldn't live to fulfill my mother's selfishness. Or if I live like Henry who was born to a simple family with parents who love him very much. Actually, Jessy had helped me run away from home several times because she felt sorry to see me being tortured but my mother always found me and instead made Jessy's parents scolded. I don't know what happened but from that day on I chose to gather at my house so as not to hurt Jessy or Henry.
