50% Child of Misty Light / Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter 1: Prologue

[Congratulations! You have been selected out of a one-in-infinity draw to be reincarnated.]

"What?"

I stare blankly at the floating box of golden text in front of me.

[Due to an unforeseen incident, memories of past life will not finish merging with your new body for six years.]

"But I'm not dead. What is going on? Reincarnation? Merging Memories? New Body? This is crazy!"

[False. This is real. Soul was involved in a horrific car accident that killed all involved.]

A terrified look crossed my face.

"But I just graduated from high school. My friends and I went out for a celebratory dinner and now we're all dead?!"

[Yes. Now just a few things to know…

1.) Due to your status as one-in-infinity you are being placed in a one-in-infinity body.

2.) Once the memories of your past life have completed merging you will be granted high adaptability for a limited time of one year. (A.N-Mainly for a quick mastery of his basic abilities.)

3.) As a result of how powerful you will be in your new life, the prime template world you will be reborn in is being fused with fictional universes that you possess knowledge of.]

For the most part I wasn't even paying all that much attention to the floating text as I frantically looked back on my recent memories trying to convince myself that this was all still just a bizarre dream.

Just like that time after I got my wisdom teeth extracted and believed that the zombie apocalypse was upon us and that squirrels were the supreme overlords of the Earth.

I easily remember that my high school graduation had taken place that very night. Feeling proud of my friends and I as we walked in the precession and one by one were alphabetically called up on stage to receive our diploma. I was called last of the four of us. But still it was amazing when I was handed my diploma, a physical testament of all my hard work paying off.

After it was over my friends suggested that we all go out to eat together to celebrate the end of our high school lives.

Which I guess ended up instead being our last meal before the complete end of our lives.

Everything after that point is a blurr. The only things to stand out were the incomprehensible screams, a bright white light, and pain.

Lots and lots of pain.

"And now I'm dead. I'm dead and probably the only people who ever truly would have cared just died with me."

Not like I expected my mom to care. She has always been too busy getting drunk on the couch or working night shifts cleaning department stores at the mall. Most of the time she doesn't even come back to the apartment. When that would happen I would usually crash over at one of my friends' houses. Her longest stint was an entire month when I was fifteen.

While I was silently thinking to myself the floating box of text suddenly changed color, which as a result snapped me out of my depressive train of thought, and caused me to refocus on what was currently happening in front of me. The once golden text was now a toxic purple.

My eyes widened at the long scrolling list of powers, "There has to be at least twenty-five if not more," and as each one appears a brief description of the ability and what it entails pops into my head.

[As an apology for your recent loss as well as acting as a gift to celebrate your rebirth you shall receive one special gift based off of your four divine family members.]

The floating text once again changed colors this time to emerald green.

[1.) From your mother a Chinese takeout box purse that gives daily true fortunes and lucky numbers.

2.) From your grandfather a Cordial possessing a single drop of the Physician's Cure.

3.) From your grandmother Iris a charm and bead making kit with a pink and prism glass casing.

4.) From your grandmother Hecate a book of Magic that will teach and show you anything you ask for.]

I was completely stunned by my whole situation. Not only had my friends and I died the night of our high school graduation, but I was then randomly selected to be reborn with like over twenty powers, and now on top of that I am being given four magic items (or three, not sure if that charm kit is magic or not)! This is just all to much for my mind to handle.

[Now it is time for you to depart. Good-bye and good luck in your new life. Be careful to survive all the monsters, demons, supernatural beings, and regular evil in your new world. P.S since you are going to be so powerful we gave you the negative traits of Deliberation, Conflict Anxiety, and Wrath.]

"What?! NO WAIT!!!"

Then all went black.
