Chapter 28: Chapter Twenty-Eight: Keep your enemies closer they said, Okay then let's get married!
"You are something really! I can't believe you went against my crush," Jennifer whispered and Clair scoffed. "What? Can't I have a crush on him?" Jennifer pouted. "You have a crush on every handsome guy you meet," Clair replied and Jennifer smirked. "So you do admit he's handsome." She teased and Clair rolled her eyes.
"I don't know if you can safely have a crush on him though," Clair mumbled. "Why? You don't plan to keep the handsome hunk to yourself do you?" Jennifer asked. Clair glared at her. "If only you knew who he truly is," Clair said, flicking her forehead.
"Dad is trying to marry her to him," Lukas whispered and Jennifer gasped. "What? Really?" She questioned and Clair rolled her eyes again. "Tch just concentrate on the filming." She complained with a crumpled face.
"Hopefully not. I don't want my sister married off to some man she doesn't know. Unfortunately, I wasn't there to t-" Lukas shut his mouth as soon as he received a glare from his sister. He sighed and leaned his head on Yaci's shoulder.
Yaci pushed him away lightly. "I'm not your pillow please restrain yourself." She said. He smiled. "You seem angry." He commented still not removing his head from her shoulder. She didn't answer and this time she simply focused on the actors. She ignored everything he said and treated him like air. This made him upset but he had to keep on insisting or else he would lose her forever.
"No, but seriously?" Jennifer whisperer yelled. "Yes. My father arranged it." Clair answered and Jennifer slumped back on her chair in surprise. "Damn I never thought you would get married. Let's go to the club and celebrate." She said excitedly and Clair arched an eyebrow. "Celebrate? There isn't anything to celebrate. I'm not getting married, especially not to him." She then ignored Jennifer's rant and concentrated on what she came here for.
At times she would shift in her chair uncomfortably because she knew someone was staring at her but she refused to glance at him. Finally, she gave up and sent him a glare but he had amusement displayed across his face. This made her even more annoyed.
She sighed when the scenes finally ended and the director called everyone for lunch. She glanced at James when he announced that he would treat them all to lunch. The director even came forward and told her that she should stay and eat lunch with them but she declined instantly.
"I'll stay and eat," Lukas told her and led Yaci towards them. "You go. Take the day off and enjoy it. I'll handle the rest." Clair told Yaci in favor of his brother and she sighed. On the other hand, Jennifer smirked. "So, do we go somewhere else for lunch?" She asked.
"No you stay here I'm leaving," Clair replied and she said her goodbyes to everyone. Before leaving the place she ordered one of the waiters to get her a private room and she entered it. She called someone over to bring her a change of clothes and once she was ready she decided to leave.
She headed towards the orphanage she funds. After watching the filming today she had a sudden urge to visit the kids again. It made her happy.
She walked out of the room with a pair of sunglasses covering her face and she was about to call her Butler to send another car since she left the other car for Lukas and Yaci to use.
She felt a tap in her shoulder and her defenses were up. Thankfully she had noticed who it was before she attacked. "Get in." He ordered. She ignored him and continued to walk away. In front of her, Jace opened the car door for her to enter.
"Why are you so determined?" She asked. "Determined to what? Marry you? The reasons are obvious." He replied. She massaged her temple and heaved a sigh. "I'm not marrying a royal. I swear I would rather marry anyone else. You know what? I will marry someone else." She smiled at her genius plan.
Her father wants her to get married right? So it's fine if she marries someone else. She will handle protecting her family well. James pursed his lips. "Go ahead." He challenged. "No problem." She replied and she picked up her phone.
She looked through her contacts and she smiled. Before she could make the call her phone was snatched from her hand. "Listen to me. I will wait a week to help you settle down but I will be the only man to marry you in this lifetime and any other. No one else." He warned her, leaving her stunned.
"Get in." He ordered her once he was inside the car. Clair gulped. She subconsciously shivered. "No thank you." She replied. "Do you want to go against me? I have been acting too nicely around you. It seems you misunderstood the type of man I am. Ms.Yves I don't take no for an answer."
Clair ended up walking inside his car. 'I knew it, I freaking knew it!' She thought. He had been way too nice. He was acting too differently from his nature. She knew that he would show his true self at some point. It made her shiver but it also made blood rush through her body in excitement.
'Ah, the sweet pleasure of having an enemy more powerful than you. It makes you more excited.' She thought with a smirk. She leaned her head on the car window while the man next to her was typing on his laptop.
It was too weird to meet a royal that would give her a week to think about their marriage. What a joke? They are the rulers of the country. Why do they need permission from anyone? She used to rule the underworld but he's still powerful and she can't easily defeat him.
Her way of thinking started changing. Her perception of him changed. She realized that their marriage might be what she needs. He is giving her an opportunity. While being married to him she would not have to suppress her real self anymore. Being this person she acts like just isn't her. She lived a lifestyle of an assassin for so long that it's impossible to get rid of it.
Although she had just changed her mind she looked forward to their marriage. She was getting her excitement ahead of her but the curiosity was killing her. She really wanted to know if he would be able to help her let her true self shine through.
She secretly grinned thinking of all the new business deals she could get. 'They said keep your friends close and your enemies closer.' She thought.
"Let's get married." She told him and he stopped typing.
