72.61% CEO Husband Takes me on a Vengeance Quest / Chapter 61: You're Really Kind to Me

Chapter 61: You're Really Kind to Me

Standing by, Charles watched her like that, muttering and grumbling continuously. He shouted, his eyes bloodshot, "Enough of your nonsense, go back to your room and don't come out."

Delilah stood there, trembling and unsure of what to do upon hearing the shout.

Steele Group. It must be Andrew's doing, but why would Steele Group treat Bel this way? She clearly went to Grand Group. How did it end up like this?

The phone rang. Charles held his cellphone, his expression unusually grim.

The call just now was about Bella and Andrew's affair.

This phone call, who knew what bad news it would bring. Charles looked troubled, like a demon from hell. After hesitating for a moment, whether it's good news or bad, it can't be avoided. He made the decision to answer the call.

"Hello, is this Mr. Harper?"

"May I ask who's calling...?"

Charles felt that the voice was exceptionally familiar but couldn't remember who it belonged to.

"Mr. Harper, your daughter has been injured, she got into a car accident. She's at the hospital. Would you like to come and see her?"

Car accident, hospital?

Charles felt a shock in his heart, as if lightning had struck him upon hearing this news. Trembling, he asked, "Which hospital?"

"..."

"... It's the most expensive hospital. Thankfully, Bel should be fine. I'm going there right away."

Charles glanced at Delilah beside him, her eyes wide open, staring at him.

He walked over to her, looked at her sternly. His warning voice chilling enough to make one tremble.

"Bel is in the hospital, we're going to see her. It's best if you don't speak nonsense or mention Amelia again. Don't cause trouble for yourself. You should know what happened to her and who it would be worst for if it's investigated."

Delilah's eyes flickered with panic, nodding vigorously.

"I understand. What happened to Bel? Why is she at the hospital?"

Charles took a deep breath, glanced at her, and said in a cold tone, "How would I know? Go to the hospital and ask the doctors."

...

"What?"

Amelia's eyes widened in surprise as she saw the news.

Bella, Andrew, their affair, marrying her.

These words stood out prominently, leaving Amelia even more incredulous.

"Take a look at this. How did this happen?"

Amelia shouted towards Ethan, who was preparing lunch in the kitchen.

Ethan had known about it long ago. Hodgkin called him earlier, so he wasn't surprised at all by the news.

Amelia didn't ask any further when she saw that he didn't respond. She kept staring at the television until she witnessed Bella's car accident. Her heart tightened as she saw the scene unfold, followed by news of her being taken to the hospital for treatment.

Amelia's expression turned gloomy as she sat silently on the sofa, watching these scenes unfold. She couldn't tell if she felt sorry for Bella or for herself, falsely accused in those images from the birthday party.

"Let's eat," Ethan said, arranging lunch with his fingers, looking at Amelia on the couch. He smiled faintly and walked over to her.

"What's wrong? Are you feeling sorry for her?" Ethan's voice held both doubt and surprise regarding this woman who wants to kill her.

Amelia glanced up at him, then gently curved her lips and let out a sigh of relief.

"As I watched her ordeal, I recalled my own moments of being framed. You can't imagine how painful and desperate I felt back then."

Ethan sat beside her, gently embracing her in his arms.

"It's all in the past. Things will get better in the future, and you will eventually reclaim everything that belongs to you. Evil will be repaid."

Ethan caressed her shoulder while comforting her with kindness.

Amelia looked up, a cold smile curling her lips as she gazed at Ethan.

"You're right, evil will be repaid. I was framed back then, but fortunately, I met you. You have been really good to me. However, Bella has faced this kind of ordeal now, encountering Andrew. She marries Andrew. It seems like her nightmare is just beginning."

Ethan released his embrace, bent down to put on her shoes, and smiled slightly.

Amelia felt somewhat uncomfortable. A CEO, so domineering and aloof, helped her put on her shoes.

"Let me do it myself."

"Sit still."

Ethan didn't look up, quickly finishing putting on both shoes before carrying Amelia to the dining table and settling her in her chair.

"You can start eating now. I'll go wash my hands."

Amelia was puzzled. What was happening? How could everything be going so well?

Ethan sat across from her, looking at her seriously for a while. As he smiled faintly and his gaze softened, Amelia felt quite unaccustomed.

This demeanor was usually only seen during their intimate moments at night. What was going on? Could it be...

Flattery often conceals wickedness.

"Spit it out. Don't look at me like that."

Amelia blushed and avoided his gentle gaze. Ethan shook his head lightly.

"It's nothing. Let's eat. Do you like the taste?"

"You still have something to say, don't make me feel uneasy like this. You suddenly being so attentive. I'm not used to it."

Amelia asked softly and gently, placing the fork she held back down.

Ethan paused for a moment, then looked at her. "Haven't I always been so good to you?"

"Putting on shoes and carrying me over to eat is the first time though."

Amelia blinked her eyes earnestly, looking at Ethan.

"Yes, you mentioned earlier that Bella's future with Andrew is the beginning of a nightmare. When I met you, I treated you really well. So, no matter how good I am to you, it's justified."

"Is it that simple?"

"Yes, there is no need for a reason to treat someone well. But if I had to give a reason, it would be because I want to."

His words were plain, yet so genuine. They felt like a warm embrace, warming Amelia's heart.

"Thank you."

"Alright, let's eat. You should be happy now, because no other woman will have intentions to harm your husband in the future."

"Are you talking about Bella? That's right, I always felt that things weren't that simple. You didn't have someone manipulate things, right?"

Amelia looked at Ethan, unsure why, but she always felt that Ethan was very mysterious, with an unpredictable power. It seemed like everything mysterious could somehow be related to him.

Ethan looked up, gazing at her seriously and solemnly, gently shaking his head.

Not him. Could it really be just a coincidence?

A peeled shrimp was placed into Amelia's plate.

...

"Dear, what's wrong with you?"

After waiting for several hours, Bella finally regained consciousness. Delilah walked over to her with concern.

Bella felt a slight headache as she shifted her eyes and looked at the people in the room.

"Mom, Dad, I was framed. It was all Andrew, who schemed against me," she weakly voiced.

Charles let out a deep sigh, walking over to her side. He looked at her pale face and couldn't help but gently caress her head.
