"Gosh. I gotta talk to him again. It's been long enough, and he just hung me up. That is not enough,"
Rosetta turned and tossed all night. Finally, she saw the sun coming up again. She had to see Ethan.
"Huh?"
As Amelia opened her eyes, Ethan was gone again.
"Was he mad for all the blanket fight? Oh, come on.
It was he who started it, though," she thought.
The bathroom door swung open, and out came Ethan with nothing on other than a towel.
"Wh-what do you want?"
"What? I just took a shower, and now I'm getting dressed."
As he spoke, he dropped the towel. Within a flash, Amelia saw him in his full birthday suit. It was so big.
She then screamed and hurriedly covered herself up with the blanket. She started to blush, and her heart started to race.
"Oh, come on. You're the one who saw my everything, and you're screaming high heavens."
"Scoundrel."
As they spoke, Ethan quickly got dressed. He then watched Amelia shiver under the blanket.
After a while, he added, "Alright, alright. I'm done. Now come out."
"For real?" she hesitated.
"Oh yeah. I was at a conference yesterday, and guess what? I saw that woman you talked to at the mall the other day."
That worked. Amelia tossed the blanket aside and sat up like an intrigued groundhog.
"For real? You mean... Bella."
Speaking of her, Amelia suddenly changed her expression. She became cold and angry.
"Well, she's different already. She's the first lady of the Harper now,"
Amelia said angrily.
That was her mother's property, and they stole it all.
It was her position, and they framed her out of it.
The whole family are rascals.
As she thought of what they had done to her, she started to shiver in anger. Ethan then sat beside her, feeling sorry for her.
"Don't punish yourself for what they have done. Remember your wish?"
Amelia then came back to her senses, staring blankly at Ethan.
"That was why I married you in the first place, wasn't it?
I sacrificed everything to make the Harper family pay for all this. I was to get everything back.
I was to make them go from having everything to owning nothing. They had to taste that just as well," Amelia thought.
"You said you'd help me. How?"
Amelia looked at him seriously. He was her ticket out of the darkness.
"I've got a plan coming up. All I need you to do is to work with me when the time comes,"
Ethan said so with full seriousness. She had no choice but to believe him.
"Then be quick with it. I can't wait to see them go into dismay and pay for what they had done."
Ethan watched her, feeling sorry for what she had been through. It's a shame that all these things had happened to her. As he watched her, she reminded him of his own past... He then decided to help her all he could.
"Don't worry. I got this."
Amelia had a hard time calming herself down. What had happened to her felt like stones.
Yet it was her sole motivation. It fueled her to push towards the day she could see them burn in hell.
"Nate."
As he got to his company, a voice came along. He knew it was her without looking back.
"What brought you here?"
Ethan looked at Rosetta coldly, as if she was just another one of his employees.
Rosetta, on the other hand, ran at him with a bright smile.
"It's been a while. I just want to talk to you. You know, about everything that happened recently."
Rosetta couldn't help feeling proud of herself. Ethan always welcomed her while being nonchalant to pretty much everyone else in the world. It could be a hint that he kind of liked her.
Ethan froze for a second, smiled, and said, "Look. I'm in the middle of something. I'll call you when I do get the time, alright?"
Rosetta looked at him and felt somewhat disappointed. Her bright smile faded away.
He was always special to her, so she was supposed to understand him better.
"Alright. I'll get going, then."
"Be safe out there,"
Ethan said with a nod. He then marched into the building without looking back. Rosetta watched him go and let out a sigh.
"He's already good enough to me. I should at least comprehend him when he's in a tight spot. He is never kind to anyone else. I should at least try to be understanding,"
she thought as she got back to her car.
As for getting back what belonged to Amelia, he might have to start with her.
Ethan sat alone in the president's office, looking sullen. He left all the piled-up papers alone, thinking about how he was supposed to make his promise to Amelia come true.
"Hello. What can I do for you?"
A fine-looking well-dressed lady got to the front desk.
"Hi. I..." Bella hesitated for a second and looked at the receptionist straight in the eyes, "I'm looking for your boss."
Her words made herself blush. After all, such in-person cold-calling couldn't get more embarrassing.
"Got a reservation?"
"N-no, but... you can ask him yourself. I..."
"I'm sorry, miss, but we can't let you in without a reservation," the receptionist broke her off mid-sentence.
Bella then froze, not knowing what to say or do. She stood there like the impersonation of embarrassment.
"Yeah... I guess he sure is pretty busy. I'll get going."
She then rushed out of the building and sped away.
[Craving anything for lunch?]
As Amelia occupied herself with housework, a message popped up.
She glanced at it, smiled, and tucked her hair behind her ear.
[I'm cleaning things up. Are you coming back?]
Ethan smiled. He couldn't imagine what she would look like doing all the chores. She almost destroyed all his dishes in one trip to the sink, after all.
He hesitated and replied: [I'll cook.]
[Great. I want salmon.]
Amelia didn't even know since when did she start missing him. Maybe it was because she was bored, or maybe she was way too lonely in the big mansion. For some reason, she started to long for him to come back.
