With Bella being the only one left in the Harper Group's meeting room, she was immersed in devising strategies. Since it posed a threat, it would be better to eliminate it early on, not only in terms of work but also on the path to becoming Mrs. Harper. There should be no threats whatsoever.
"You know, why do I always feel that Ms. Sophia who came today is somewhat eerie?" Delilah sat in the living room, feeling restless ever since she saw Sophia. Amelia's image kept popping into her mind for some unknown reason.
Charles had an unpleasant expression, preoccupied with the losses from production shutdowns and feeling mentally scattered.
"Eerie? The truly eerie one is Bel. Why can't she get along with Ms. Sophia? This complicates things."
"Do you really not think Ms. Sophia looks like..." Charles shot her a glance, unsure why, but he felt a chill down his spine.
"Are you saying she looks like Amelia? But the day she returned to Grand Group to become the director, I went to a banquet with Bel and didn't notice anything unusual."
Charles recalled that day's events, momentarily puzzled, his eyes flashing with uncertainty. "Besides, didn't Bel personally blow up Amelia? Don't let doubts cloud your judgment."
"Could it be Amelia's ghost possessing Sophia?" Delilah stared wide-eyed, serious and earnest, engaging in wild speculation.
Even though it was certain they were not the same person, having someone resembling the person they had harmed appear made her uneasy and restless. It was the feeling of guilt making them paranoid.
Charles sat there, his face turning pale, took a moment to shake his head. "Enough, let's not talk about this anymore. Let's focus on the current situation and try to avoid provoking her in the future."
"But what if she really becomes hostile towards us?"
"What can we do? She works in Grand Group now. What else can we do? If we can bear it, we'll bear it. If we can't, we'll stay away. Instruct Bel not to engage in conflicts with her."
Delilah looked at Charles in astonishment, finding it hard to believe these words came from his mouth. It was unlike their usual style of swallowing their pride and grievances.
...
"How is it? Give it a taste." Ethan smirked, watching Amelia.
Amelia was solely focused on the fish soup he had just cooked.
"It's indeed delicious." Amelia lowered her head, closed her eyes, and took a gentle sniff, a smile unconsciously appearing on her face.
"Then have some more. You seem to have lost quite some weight recently, and I don't like girls who are too skinny," Ethan said as he placed a bowl of fish soup in front of her.
"They say that fish is good for the brain, and I think it makes sense."
"Do you think you're smart? That's not very modest,"
Ethan picked out fish bones and placing fish onto her plate.
Amelia looked up, gazing at Ethan with a smile and earnestly asked, "Do you know what the smartest thing I've ever done is?"
"What is it?" Ethan listened while sipping his soup, always amazed by her surprising remarks. He was wondering how she would compliment herself this time.
"The smartest thing is marrying a wonderful husband like you. Really, you're too good to me," Amelia said sincerely.
Ethan's heart trembled slightly, he looked up, gazing seriously at her. "Don't get sentimental during meals, too busy to handle it all."
Amelia paused for a moment, thought about it, not understanding what he meant, and looked at him with her beautiful eyes.
Ethan placed the spoon back into the bowl, chuckled softly, and patted Amelia's head.
Amelia thought for a moment and suddenly realized his meaning. Her cheeks couldn't help but blush slightly.
"You..."
.........
"This is infuriating! My dad knows how embarrassing it would be for me to go to Grand Group, yet he still wants me to go. I don't understand what he's thinking. Is the losses more important than his daughter?"
Bella muttered as she walked out of the company, complaining while unwilling to stop.
"Should I ask Ethan for help? Will he help me?"
Bella held her phone, swiping the screen one moment and hesitating the next, unsure whether to call Ethan or not.
Forget it, I have to go anyway. Once I'm there, I'll find him. I don't believe Sophia will continue being so arrogant.
The car raced on, heading towards Grand Group.
After twenty minutes, Bella arrived downstairs at Grand Group.
Standing here, she took a deep breath.
She's just a Sophia, nothing special.
Approaching the door, she knocked forcefully with an indifferent expression.
Knock, knock.
"Please come in."
Bella walked in nonchalantly, acting like nobody else was present, and sat down casually on the sofa.
Amelia looked at her demeanor and found it amusing. She glanced at Bella but didn't pay any further attention.
Bella froze for a moment, then stood up, slamming the documents heavily on the table, and said in a serious tone, "Ms. Sophia, I have completed the task as you requested. Can you sign off now? The production halt has caused severe losses. You cannot bear the losses of both Harper Group and Grand Group."
Amelia lightly hooked her lips, picked up the documents Bella had placed aside, gave them a quick glance, and checked her watch.
"I'm sorry, Miss Harper, but you've come at an inconvenient time. Mr. Frost asked me to negotiate other projects, so you'll have to wait here for a while."
"Just sign the damn papers. You sign them, and I'll take them away. What's with all the pretense?" Bella replied impatiently, crossing her arms and lazily glancing at Amelia.
Amelia looked at Bella's attitude and couldn't help but smile, giving her a brief glance before ignoring her.
"If there are any mistakes due to careless review, and if Harper Group and Grand Group suffer losses, I won't be able to bear the responsibility. Please wait."
Amelia glanced at her and then walked out. Seeing Amelia's figure, Bella got angry and stomped her feet twice.
"Sophia, you're intentionally humiliating me!"
Bella shouted, angrily sitting back down and looking at the few books on the desk, where all the materials and contracts had been locked in Sophia's drawer.
Amelia wore a faint smile as she entered Ethan's office.
"Why did you come?"
Ethan smiled lightly, unable to conceal his fondness in his deep eyes.
Amelia gave him a slight smile and proudly glanced at Ethan.
"What's wrong? Bella came over, then left again?"
"No. I let her wait alone."
Ethan's deep eyes stared at Amelia, raising his finger and pointing at her.
"You... when you went to Harper Group, she thought you showed contempt for her and treated her mother rudely. So when she comes here, of course, she will treat you the same way."
