Chapter 12: Termination of your contract
Zheng Daniel called Sophie early in the morning and then visited her place because she didn't answer his calls.
She placed the coffee mug before him and sat down on the couch.
"Why did you post the picture last night? Your career is on the verge of ending," Zheng Daniel snapped at her.
"I thought Junwei would agree this way," Sophie replied.
"His secretary has given a statement on his behalf, where it is clearly mentioned that you two do not meet for any business deal. Because his grandfather is your fan, he invited you to fulfil his grandfather's wish," Zheng Daniel stated.
"What? Did he say that?" Sophie chuckled. "How could he lie so easily? Indeed, Grandpa Yu is my fan, but Junwei never invited me. He lied, Chairman Zheng," Sophie said.
"Does that matter? You lost your chance to get a commercial deal with them. It was a good opportunity for you. I should not have sent you to meet him," Zheng Daniel said, and sighed. He leaned back on the sofa chair and crossed one leg above the other.
"Yi Zixun lied to everyone. I didn't verbally abuse her," Sophie said. Daniel looked at her and found her upset. "She was my senior and always looked down on me. Why did she have to bring my mother's affair out of nowhere? I controlled my anger for a long time, Chairman Zheng. Still, I will apologize to her officially in front of the media if you want me to," she stated.
"I have posted the official apology letter from our agency, so you do not need to apologize in front of the media," Daniel answered. He picked up the coffee mug and drank the coffee.
"Why don't you go for a vacation? After three years, you will be taking a break," Daniel suggested to her.
"I will stay in the house," Sophie replied. "Also, I will make Junwei agree. His grandfather even asked Junwei to sign the deal with me. But because he is self-centred, he refused," she said with a glint in her eyes. She wanted Zheng Daniel to put his faith in her.
"How will you do it? Better not to post anything which could bring doom to us," Daniel said, and again sipped the coffee. He put the mug on the table and heard Sophie say.
"I don't know, but I will do it. I will go and meet Junwei again. Please give me one last chance, Chairman Zheng," Sophie said as she joined her hands and rubbed them together.
"Sorry, Sophie, but I cannot allow you," Daniel completely refused her. "It is a clear no from me because Yu Junwei has warned us through his secretary. Currently, our agency is at a loss, so I cannot take another risk in this," he explained to her.
Daniel didn't want to tell Sophie how the board of directors of WC Entertainment wanted him to remove Sophie and terminate her contract with the agency.
When he was struggling with his company, Sophie's father helped him a lot. Also, after Sophie's eye surgery, she got into acting and took his company to great heights. He could never betray the person to whom he promised that he would take care of Sophie until the very end.
"Sophie, you may get some small endorsements, so don't refuse them. For now, that's better than doing nothing," Daniel stated. Sophie agreed with him and asked him if she gave him a lot of stress.
"I apologize for my naivety." Sophie lowered her head in guilt.
Zheng Daniel smiled to hear her. "It was not a naïve action. If someone brings my mother out of nowhere, surely, I will also get angry. These emotions always mess us up. Learn to control them," he advised her. He looked at the watch in his hand and told Sophie that he would leave as he had an important meeting.
Sophie waved at him and closed the door.
"He might not tell me, but higher-ups must be pressuring him to throw me out," Sophie muttered. Everything went wrong since the day she encountered Yi Zixun.
"I need to do something. I should have taken the contact number of Grandpa Yu," she mumbled and picked up her phone. She decided to ask Junwei's secretary about it.
She waited for Wang Zexi to answer the call. Unfortunately, he didn't answer. She recalled the account of Yu Ziyang on social media, from which he had commented on her post. Luckily, she had sent the following request to him yesterday before deleting that post.
She opened the message box and wrote a message to Yu Ziyang.
"Dear Grandpa Yu, this is Sophie. I hope you are doing well. Forgive me for contacting you this way. I should not be saying this, but Yu Junwei refused to go forward with this deal. I am asking for a favor from Grandpa Yu. Could you please arrange my meeting with Junwei?"
She re-read the message again before sending it. She was nervous, wondering if Yu Ziyang would see the message or not.
She put the phone on the couch and took the coffee mug to the kitchen. Putting it in the washbasin, she returned to the living room. She looked at the scripts which she had received two days ago before her argument with Yi Zixun.
"It was a nice drama. I really liked its script," she sighed, and her eyes filled with tears. She lightly slapped the middle of her forehead, asking herself why she did that.
As she settled on the couch, her phone pinged. She wondered if it was Yu Ziyang, but it wasn't him. It was from Ciao Hong.
"Do you know that the Board of members is asking for the termination of your contract?" The matter that Zheng Daniel wanted to hide, Ciao revealed. He even sent her photos of the glass conference room where the members had gathered.
Before she could reply, Ciao called her from the other side. She answered his call. "What will you do? Yu Junwei didn't agree, else everything would have been fine," he said with a panicked look.
"I have an idea. Help me this time. I have to see Junwei again," Sophie asked for his help.
"He will file a case against you, if you show your face to him," Ciao stated.
"He will not. I want Grandpa Yu's number. Can you find out his number? Ciao, only Grandpa Yu can help me," Sophie affirmed.
"I will try to find it. I have to hang up the call as the meeting is going to start," Ciao said. Sophie hummed and put her phone down.
