Chapter 18: A loss of even 0.000001%
Junwei entered the elevator, and the door was almost closed when Sophie put her hand in between the metal doors. It opened and she got in while glaring at him. She pressed the ground floor button and turned to look at Junwei.
"Is this the way you treat people?" Sofia complained to him.
"No. I treat you only this way. Why did you contact my grandfather?" Junwei asked her and slid his hands into his pockets.
"Because you weren't listening to me," Sophie replied. The elevator opened on the 4th floor first, and then the 3rd floor. Many people had walked in, and Sofia had to go close to Junwei. He stood straight and looked at his left side. There was no space at all in the elevator. Sofia kept her head down, not wanting people to recognize her.
Junwei noticed her actions and then caught her arm. He interchanged their positions, and his hand rested on the left side of Sophie's head. She looked at him, but his gaze wasn't on her. Sophie smiled a little and tightly held the file. On the first floor, the elevator had almost emptied while three people were in it, including them.
Junwei stepped back and turned his back on Sophie. The elevator opened on the ground floor, and they exited it.
Junwei took out the key from his pocket and pressed on it as they reached for it. Junwei went to the driver's seat and stepped in while Sophie got out from the other side. She put on the seatbelt and then caressed her hair.
"Tell the address," Junwei asked her.
Sophie told him, and he put it on the GPS device installed in the car. Junwei started the car and drove to the said route. Sophie's eyes glistened as she saw the interior of the car. Even the ride was smooth, which it made her wonder why she never thought of purchasing that car.
Sophie suddenly said, "I want to buy this car," thus grabbing Junwei's attention.
"What do you mean?" He confusedly glanced at her.
"I want to buy a car of this model," Sophie stated.
"I won't sell anything to you," Junwei stated.
"That's so wrong. I am a customer for you at the moment. How cold of you!" Sophie muttered and crossed her arms.
"You aren't my customer," Junwei affirmed.
"Ahh, I forgot. I am the brand ambassador for the car that you'll launch soon. So, I am a special customer for you," she stated and smiled at him.
"You have no idea how I work! You will cry on the very first day. So, better leave it," Junwei tried to intimidate her.
"I do well under pressure. If you want me to work even after midnight, I will do that. I am not the nation's superstar merely because I am beautiful, but because I am diligent in my work," Sophie proudly said.
"If I get a loss of even 0.000001% because of your controversy with Yi Zixun, then I will spare no second to kick you out of this," Junwei stated.
"And what if the profits skyrocketed? What will you do then?" Sophie asked her.
"I don't have much faith in you," Junwei proclaimed.
Sophie was hurt by his statement. "You will fulfill my one wish if the profits skyrocket," she stated.
"You are overconfident," Junwei said.
"Time will tell you," Sophie replied. "How come a CEO thinks wrong about his own company? You should say that you want to see profits soaring high in the sky. However, you are doing the opposite," she muttered.
"Don't come to the company until my secretary calls you," Junwei told her.
Sophie made a face at him and then turned her head away. Because her apartment was far from the main city, it was a long drive. She had fallen asleep in the car. Junwei pulled the car into the driveway and asked her to exit the car. But she didn't respond to him.
Junwei opened his seatbelt and leaned towards her to shake her shoulder. Sophie woke up with a jerk and looked at him. "Get off my car," Junwei said, and sat straight. He pressed the button from his side and the door opened. Sophie stepped out of the car. Without wasting any seconds, Junwei drove away from her sight.
"That jerk!" She mumbled and went to her apartment.
She got into the elevator, where two more people were present. She greeted them and stepped in. At that moment, a man in black clothes with a white face mask also walked in. The elevator closed while Sophie got busy with her phone. She was super excited to tell Zheng Daniel about it. He was so worried about her.
She reached her floor and stepped out of the elevator. She put the phone inside her handbag and went to her apartment. The man in black clothes followed her. Sophie inserted the password on the door while the man continued to stare at her from behind the wall.
Once Sophie walked in, the man also left.
Sophie kissed the top of the file before placing it on the sofa table. She started to jump in happiness and dialed Daniel's number. Excitedly, she told him how she managed to sign the deal with Junwei.
Zheng Daniel complimented Sophie and told her that he would meet her in the morning. "You have received two minor commercials for new brands," he informed Sophie. She was eager to do those commercials. The call was disconnected after a while, and she went to the bedroom.
After freshening up, she sat down at the vanity chair and applied the night cream to her face. While doing so, she kept humming the song of her favorite singer.
She went to the bed and then lay down. She checked the phone and wondered why Ciao hadn't messaged or called her.
"Should I call Junwei? I love to tease him," she mumbled with excitement and dialed Junwei's number. She had forgotten that he had blocked her number. She sighed and tossed the phone on the bed.
"I will make him unblock my number tomorrow," she told herself, and closed the lights by clapping her hands. She turned on the bedside lamp and then pulled the blanket up. Closing her eyes, she drifted off to sleep.
