At night Syanja's car stopped on the beach, she sighed and got out of the car, and made her way toward the beach. The ocean breeze was cool, it was calm, and the moon illuminated a part of the sand that wasn't yet wet from yesterday’s tide.
When she got to the beach she saw the water was still calm, no waves rolling in and leaving white marks on the sand; only the soft light of the moon and stars could illuminate the whole area. She walked towards where some rocks were sticking up from the water, and sat down on one, her legs dangling in the waves, taking off her shoes and socks and wiggling her toes against the smooth grains. She sighed deeply again but this time in contentment at how much the silence calmed her down. She felt like she was floating away with the waves and had forgotten what happened today. A peacefulness enveloped her as if someone had just lifted all the stress and troubles from her shoulders and sent her flying into the sky.
