“Maybe you should text him,”she murmured.

The muscles along Jack’s spine tensed.“He knows where he lives.He’ll come back when he feels like it.”

Lori picked at the bed sheet.“The bed feels empty.”

Over his shoulder,Jack gave her a wink.“That’s because I’m not in it yet.”

“I mean without Brandt.”Lori rolled onto her side,careful to keep her leg propped up on the cushion.“Maybe you should text him.”

“You said that already.”Jack rose and pushed down his jeans,then his briefs,and stepped out of them as he reached for the wall switch to turn out the overhead light.

“Really?”Lori asked.Her mind was fuzzy from the drugs and the lingering effects of the beer she’d had with dinner.“What’d you say?”

The room plunged into darkness.“I said no.”
