'That woman again,' my mind said with a sigh. 'Why did she have to appear here?'

"Hello there," said Lady Disdain as she chewed gum and stood in a way that looked like she owned the whole place. "Looks like we meet again."

'On horrible terms and at the wrong time, yes,' I said in my head and rolled my eyes before pushing my way through them to get to the other bus stop.

One of the sophomore students from her gang caught my elbow and pulled me back.

"Do you think we shall let you off the hook so easily after giving us a chase the other day?" said the plump girl who had pulled me into the middle of their predatory circle and looked at me like I was some insect that should be dead.
