"Mom, her name is Emily, and she lives in a coastal city." I began to recount everything that unfolded in that city, especially regarding Emily. Once I wrapped up my story, my mom couldn't hold back her emotions and started scolding me.
"Ray, you deceived me. You said you were headed to Fastal town, yet you went to Coastal city!" She intended to elaborate, but I quickly approached her and gave her a warm embrace.
"Mom, I did visit Coastal city, but I was careful. I was with a merchant group, so I didn't run into any issues. So please, don't worry." I said while swiftly kissing her on the lips, causing her face to flush slightly as she shot me a disapproving look.
"Ray, I previously asked you not to do this. We are mother and son, and it's best if we maintain clear boundaries," she replied, her tone laced with hesitation, suggesting an internal struggle to maintain her role as a protective mother while feeling a reluctance to enforce distance between us.
"Mom, it's time to stop viewing our relationship through the lens of conventional boundaries, as if we were alone in this. While it's rare to witness love between a mother and son, there are others who share similar connections," I told her, knowing that taboo relationships do exist out there.
In this peculiar world, such bonds aren't as strange as they seem. I could sense my mother's struggle with her own desires, especially after my sister moved out three months ago. I could feel that with every teasing remark I made, her self-control was waning and that eventually, she might succumb to her urges.
"Yes, you... have a point, but I..."

As she spoke nervously, we heard the sound of footsteps approaching from upstairs, making her pause. "We'll discuss this later," she stated, her voice shaky yet filled with an intriguing mix of uncertainty and curiosity. In that moment, she pulled away from me, but not before I playfully squeezed her buttocks one last time in a moment of boldness, leaving an electrifying tension lingering in the air that neither of us could ignore or forget. It felt like a line had been crossed, shifting the dynamics of our relationship irrevocably.
Soon I saw Emily coming down in her white shirt and blue jeans. At this time, she looked very cute and adorable like a doll. But 'She came at the wrong time; if she had been a few minutes late, I might have had a breakthrough with my memory. Well, she needs to be punished tonight,' I thought to myself, and a smile formed on my face, hiding my inner intentions.
"Hello, Mrs. Grant," she came downstairs and stood beside me, greeting my mom. Even now she seemed to be a little nervous since she didn't have many chances to get along with other people in her life before.
"Oh dear, don't be so nervous; as Ray told you before, you are now a part of our family. Also, stop calling me Grant; that was my childhood name, and Ray only calls me that to make fun of me," my mom said, her eyes landing on me with a playful yet blaming gaze.
"Sorry, but then what should I call you? Ray never mentioned your name; he only told me that he calls you Grant sometimes," she looked at me as if blaming me for not telling her earlier, her eyes searching for answers while unknowingly igniting a sense of mischief within me.
"Well my name is Alena, but you can call me mother, after all you are my son's girlfriend, so you are also my daughter in law." She said in a teasing tone while hiding her small amount of jealousy but she couldn't hide it from me.
When Emily heard my mom's words, she first blushed, but then her eyes got a bit wet. Before coming here, she thought that maybe my mom wouldn't accept her, but she got emotional when she heard the words from my mom as she started to say, "Thank you, Mom." Hearing her words, my mom didn't say much but smiled gently at us, her eyes sparkling with warmth and acceptance. Then she asked us to get ready for dinner, well, to me at least since Emily was already ready.
Soon, I went upstairs while Emily waited there, a small, hopeful smile on her face. I entered my room and started to take a shower, the warm water washing away my lingering worries. After feeling refreshed, I quickly got dressed, choosing a casual yet nice outfit, before heading downstairs again, eager to join them and enjoy the evening together.
After a few minutes of small talk, during which Emily's anxieties seemed to fade further, my mom ushered us into the kitchen. The aroma of baked goods filled our senses, drawing us toward the dining table laid out with an assortment of treats. "I made your favorite cookies, honey," Mom said, placing a plate of golden-brown cookies in front of me.
"What do you think?" my mom asked Emily, her eyes sparkling. "Want to try something? I've got brownies too!"
"Everything looks amazing! Thank you," Emily said, her genuine smile now emerging, and the delight in her eyes matched Mom's enthusiasm.
As we sat and enjoyed the sweet feast, the conversation began to flow more naturally. Mom shared stories from my childhood and the silly things I had done growing up, eliciting laughter from both of us. Emily began to contribute her own anecdotes, enthusiasm coloring her voice, which encouraged my mom to share amusing memories of her own experiences with new friends.
After we finished eating, Mom began to clean up, and I caught Emily watching her with admiration. When we stepped outside for some fresh air, Emily looked at me, her eyes sparkling. "Your mom is incredible. I can see where you get it from."
"Thanks, I think? But you should see her during family game night," I chuckled, memories flashing through my mind of those chaotic evenings filled with laughter and light-hearted competitiveness.
The day stretched on with us exploring the area around our house, relishing the simplicity of being together in my childhood surroundings. And with every shared moment, I realized how easily Emily began to fit into the tapestry of my life.
Later that evening, we settled into the cozy living room, my mom joining us for a round of board games. With laughter echoing through the house, any trace of Emily's initial nervousness completely disappeared. In that moment, surrounded by warmth and acceptance.
The board game that we were playing was very common, Snake and Ladder, and the board was placed on the table while my mom was sitting on the opposite side of both of us.
